Vegetarian/vegan snacks?

I'm new to the whole vegetarian thing and I'm trying to be vegan but I still only consider my self to be a vegetarian, so anyway... I was wondering is there anything but fruit that I can have for a snack because it's starting to feeli as if my diet is almost like salad, apple, salad, orange, salad... I'm ok with the "salad" although that's not what I'm eating exactly, I tried the mock metloaf... Delish! Anyway I was wondering what I could fill those apples/oranges in with... Preferably something easy to make.

  1. Cut up the fruit and make a smoothie

    Chips & Salsa

Pita bread & hummus (easily made and found in the stores)

    Pretzels

Trail mix (absolutely amazing a nutritious- you can make your own!)

Soup (there are so many out there and easy to make- just get a spice rack and some minced garlic, use veg. broth or water and add whatever veggies you like into a pot or find free recipes online)

Rice & Cheese Casserole - basically a block of cheese, some rice, some broccoli, mix together and bake

Fiesta Casserole- Make layers using tortillas (like lasagna layers), beans of choice, enchilada sauce, olives, peppers, anything you want- eat with salsa chips and sour cream if desired.

These are just a few ideas- enjoy!

  2. Well there are a lot more fruits than apples and oranges.  Try getting more of a variety of fruits.  Nuts are also a good idea.  Once in a while, treat yourself to a fruit popsicle or some potato chips.

  3. Get some popcorn kernels - any grocery store should sell bags of loose popcorn kernels.  Put them in a pan and cover with just enough olive oil to cover the kernels.  Put your stovetop on medium heat and cover the pan, and let the kernels pop.  Shake the pan in a back and forth motion over the burner.  Do keep an eye on the popcorn, never leave alone...if oil gets too hot it can catch fire!  Sprinkle with sea salt and pepper when finished, and enjoy...a light snack that tastes fantastic!!

  4. vegie burgers....sushi (not fish just vegie)...crackers...goldfish...fruit roll ups...fruit snack....

  5. Fresh fruits and veggies loaded with vitamin C, antioxidants, and fiber, such as bananas and apples.

Yogurt with sprinkled crunchy cereal on top which is great for energy.

Popcorn is a great snack because you get a lot of volume and fiber which makes you feel full, and it's a whole grain.

Almonds and walnuts are a great snack because they're packed with good fats, which help you stay full; fiber, and nutrients like selenium, vitamin E, and omega-3s.

    Soy crisps.

    Salads.

    Cheese & crackers.

    Graham crackers with peanut butter.

    Wheat thins and string cheese.

    Yogurt smoothie and a banana.

    Bag of chocolate covered pretzels.

Half a wheat bagel and cream cheese.

    Baked tortilla chips and salsa.

    Breakfast cereal bar.

Celery with cream cheese or peanut butter.

    Cottage cheese.

  6. try things like fruit salad.

Mix a bunch of your favorite fruits together in a bowl and enjoy with a glass of water. Pretty much any fruit tastes good mixed together because they're all sweet and natural.

Try watermelon, cantalope, pineapples, peaches, grapes, mandarins, grapefruit, kiwi, strawberries, and or lemons.

You could also munch on carrots and tomatoes.

A lot of people like to dip carrots in ranch sauce.

    -good luck : )

    hope this helps

  7. As far as peanut butter goes, just read the ingredients.  Some creamy peanut butters may have milk ingredients or cream.  It's easy to get all-peanut peanut butter.  Most stores carry it.  A high-protein snack that I like is 1/4 cup of mixed nuts with 1/8 cup raisins or cranberries and 33 semi-sweet chocolate chips.  Okay, so the chocolate isn't vegan but you can leave them out or sub carob chips!  For me, a snack and chocolate lover, this is a great replacement for an Oh Henry Bar.  Much lower in calories and much higher in nutrients.  I know nuts can be high calorie, but 1/4 cup isn't too bad and is loaded with good stuff for the body.  You can also get snack sized chocolate soy milk cartons (I find them at Superstore www.superstore.ca) and that, although liquid, makes a nice afternoon snack as well.

  8. Chips & salsa (or guacamole)

    Baked pita wedges with hummus

Celery, apples or carrots topped with peanut butter

Popcorn (with Earth Balance vegan butter and salt)

Potato wedges (sliced, baked, and topped with spices and/or salt)

    Trail mix

    Pretzels

    Soymilk smoothie

Soy yogurt and fruit (like blueberries)

  9. Sorry Leah(/\), but most of the things you said are not vegan... like cream cheese...

    .................I

You are saying a lot of stuff with cheese... vegans cant have cheese

  10. tortilla chips and salsa are vegan friendly and so are twizzlers
