Ok so i have been a vegetarian since i was 8 I am now 14. I have gradually given things up like gelatin, glycerin, glycerol, leather, down, many animal stocks, and anything in ingredients that i know come from animals. I want to be vegan like no dairy and all but all that I do already is hard on my mom finacially b/c she isn't vegeterain so all the soy meat she gets for me is an extra cost so if we couldn't share eggs and dairy etc then idk how she would afford it. So my question is really how hard was it for you to become vegan with none vegan family? Also do you think i should just wait to be vegan untill I am living on my own.Oh also what all should i give up being vegan?

  1. I was a vegetarian since I was 9 and became vegan at fifteen. I just told my parents the truth, and refused to eat dairy. You could either gradually stop eating eggs and dairy, or quit cold-turkey (no pun intended). I would advise you to explain to your mom why you're being vegan, and try not to make things any harder on her than they need to be. Good luck!

  2. I think that you should wait until you are on your own

  3. Do it.

My mom did it, her skin cleared up really easily, as in felt softer and less oily and stuff and she feels great!

It isn't really a change to her lifestyle either because she doesn't miss anything but tea.

She now likes mint tea more and that's cool.

  4. It's great that you're interested in going vegan. The fake meats and special dairy alternatives are on the pricey side, but they're not necessary. You can be perfectly healthy by eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and grains. Just use the specialty products to splurge.

Here's a list of vegan food ideas for people who are on a budget:

Keep in mind that going vegan doesn't need to be an all-or-nothing, overnight switch. You could start being vegan just one or two days a week and gradually build up. Or cut eggs out of your diet first, and then move on to dairy. It really wasn't that hard for me because I took it at my own pace.

I don't think you need to wait until you move out to become vegan, unless you want to do that. Good luck!

  5. I'm vegetarian and my friends and i wanted to try vegan for a week. It really isn't hard if you have self-control. So i was the only one that did it for a week. I went to http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/ before we went grocery shopping. I wasn't aware there was so much to chose from. You should go vegan if you can. Its probably the best thing you can do for yourself and the environment. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

  6. a vegan diet can be cheaper on the whole than a diet containing meat and fish. buying tofu rather than soy meat, and relying more on beans and pulses for protein might help. good luck!
