  1. It`s difficult with our society being mainly meat eating.. I mean the North American diet mainly consist of meat.. KFC, MacDonald`s, steakhouses......even sushi.. Most dishes are meat based. It`s difficult to stay on the diet when you first start.. You have to transition..You have to figure out why you are on this diet. What`s your purpose. My purpose is health related. I`m lactose intolerant, and I`m disgusted by all the meat that is being consumed in the North American diet. Do we really need that much meat products in our diet? It`s no wonder heart disease is on the rise, and obesity. Not to mentio, there is a grain shortage.. Let`s let the grain feed the people, not the cattle that makes the people unhealthy!!

  2. I'm semi-vegetarian.

I do eat dairy, fish, poultry once or twice a month. Red meat rarely.

Not willing to commit totally - because I dislike the word 'never'.

  3. animals are here for us to enjoy at our pleasure

  4. Being a vegetarian, I can say is a wonderful idea also because of health reason too. Vegetarian means you can consume milk and egg (lacto-ovo vegetarian) too where as vegans do not consume milk (can consume soy milk and milk products) and meat. Why to kill animals to fed ourselves? why we are so cruel?

There is saying for vegetarianism "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian".

They’re also usually lower than non vegetarian diets in total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol. Many studies have shown that vegetarians seem to have a lower risk of obesity, coronary heart disease (which causes heart attack), high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus and some forms of cancer.

Vegetarian diets can be healthful and nutritionally sound if they’re carefully planned to include essential nutrients. However, a vegetarian diet can be unhealthy if it contains too many calories and/or saturated fat and not enough important nutrients.

To be vegan you can use soy milk and products to meet your protein requirements and nuts, pulses and beans.

To be vegan or vegetarian is not difficult. We have to be little more strong in the beginning then every thing will fall in its place by itself and you will never attract towards non veg food later.

    Good luck!!!

  5. I've enjoyed being a vegetarian for 17 years now.

  6. do vegetarian feed meat to their pet (dog or cat)?

  7. i think being a vegetarian or vegan is great  =)

there is a lot of cruelty in this world, and even though going veg doesn't solve all of it....it's MUCH better than doing nothing.

vegetarians and vegans are fabulous, especially the ones that post on here....the regulars are a great source of information and support.

  8. The more, the merrier. :D

  9. It is good and more beneficial to our health! But you have to sacrifice delicious menus came from animals’ meat in order to be a real vegan…

  10. My favorite vegetarian saying is "meat is no treat for those you eat." I like being vegetarian because it is a healthy lifestyle, and I don't think the meat industry is going in a good direction. Personally, I don't want a hamburger packed with steroids. I sometimes have a hard time getting enough protein, but I usually eat soy products. There seems to be a small amount of vegetarian options at some restaurants. Ruby Tuesday's and other chain restaurants have vegetarian burgers, but they fry them on the same grill as the rest of the meat. The french fries are frequently fried in the same oil as chicken fingers. Most soups offered are made with some form of meat product ( bullion, beef stock, etc.) Even some ethnic restaurants are hard to get vegetarian food. Mexican restaurants sometimes have beans made with lard. But I think overall the benefits of vegerianism outway the inconvenience.

  11. I'm down! I've been a vegitarian for 10 years, starting when I was 8. It's really not hard at all, I mean, if and eight year old can do it, and after the first couple weeks, you don't even notice meat any more. It's also much more healthier for you. Slaughter houses are so disgusting and inhumane. I think that if people had to kill their own animals for their own food, it would be okay, but the pain and suffering animals are put through now adays is just unnecessary. Plus, if people had to see what they were killing, they would think twice about eating meat. After ten years, I think it's nasty and I really have no desire to eat it again.
