Vegetarians, Toffu Recipe?

How do I make it? Do you have any recipe's? I'm just now starting to be a vegetarian, and I heard about Toffu. Tell me what it is, and how to make it. Thankssss :]

  1. I cut the block of tofu length wise into 1/2 inch slabs & marinate in good seasons Italian salad dressing, grill it & serve as sandwiches.  I also cube it &  fry it until golden brown on all sides.  Served with a spicy peanut sauce thai style. To make the peanut sauce I use peanut butter & red pepper flakes with a bit of water to thin it out, simmer for 5 minutes.  Yummy!  Silken tofu mixed with cocoa powder and brown rice syrup blended into a custard, makes a yummy vegan pie filling


  2. I used to hate tofu, but now I love it. There's a great book you could check out at the library, called the Tofu Cookbook. You could get a packet of miso soup at the grocery store and heat that up, it's in the oriental section usually, and it has tofu.

    You can edit as you wish, say you don't like mushrooms, take those out and add something else if you'd like, like tomatoes.

    Fried tofu is also really good.

  3. You can buy tofu in any decent supermarket, check the produce section or ask an employee.

    There's a variety of types of different firmness. Generally, you'll probably want firm or very firm. Silken is nice for smoothies or deserts that use tofu.

    Tofu is basically tasteless by itself: it absorbs whatever you cook it in. So it should be marinated in soy or teriyaki sauce (for example) and then stir-fried, pan-fried, or baked in the oven.

    Vegetarian books and websites are full of recipes with tofu.  

  4. Her's a yummy tofu recipe I made up:

    I made this mid morning and it was delicious! Great for vegans.. just omit the egg! Ingredients: Spaghetti noodles olive oil crushed garlic cloves curry powder diced tofu (firm) bean sauce oyster sauce 1 egg diced apples with cinnamon (may use tropical fruit) 1) Boil spaghetti noodles and drain out the water. 2) On a wok or pan add noodles, garlic, olive oil, curry powder, tofu, bean sauce, and oyster sauce. 3) Stir fry everything till very light brown. 4) Put on low heat and add one egg, continue to stir fry vigurously. 5) Add diced apples with cinnamon and cook till warm. SERVE!

  6. Here's how i make mine:

    1) cut up the tofu into cubes

    2) roll the cubes of tofu into soy sauce. (put the soy sauce on a plate)

    3) cook the tofu in a pan over the stove. (cook it til whenever you like)
