I'm asking because I'm a former meat eater ( so proud of the former part by the way) and back when I use to eat it, it was sooo great. Now mind you I've only been a vegetarian for a few months but every time I smell or see meat it makes me a little sick to my stomach. On my way home from work I have to pass an Applebees, Ryans and Wafflehouse. At one point in my life this was the best part of my ride. But now it makes me take the long way around sometimes because I can't stand the smell. Before anyone makes this comment I'm perfectly healthy and not pregnant!!!!! Does this happen or has this happened to anyone else?

  1. I'm a life-long vegetarian (and vegan for 10 years), and it used to make me really sick (especially when I was a very small child), but for the most part I've gotten used to it.  The only exception is very strong pork smell.  It's all still unpleasant, but not enough to make me feel sick.

  2. I have been a vegetarian since i was 13 ( i am 20 now) and the smell of meat def makes me sick ESPECIALLY BACON ! eeeewww I cant stand the smell of cooking bacon!

  3. Yeah it will pass.

You will also have alot of meat dreams where you accidentally forget that you dont eat meat, and you eat it.

and then you wake up all scared.

    that will pass to. :)

  4. It doesn't bother me.  My family and friends are many meat eaters, so I can't help seeing and smelling it.  As long as I don't eat it I'm fine.

  5. seeing meat makes me sick, not because of the looks but because of the suffrage involved

i smelled meat 3 months after going vegetarian and i throw up, for about 1 month i used it as a method to lose weight, but i realized that was bad for me and stopped..

but to answer you, meat makes me disgusted with the world and myself and yeah

  6. Well, I guess it would depend on the person you ask. Many people don't experience these things, but other may have. I do remember a time when just healing someone talking about eating meat would make me sick but I got passed that. The smell of meat cooking does still make me gag, though. I don't know how I managed to be a meat eater for as long as I was. I still consider it disgusting and do my best to avoid being around the smell as much as I can be. Just keep taking the other road. It may be longer but at least the stench of meat won't follow you. It's worth it. Use the extra time to look around you and appreciate the sights.

  7. Mostly raw meat grosses me out. It's so pink and fleshy it makes me wana barf. The smell really depends, if it's McDonalds then yes the smell is nasty. But I have to admit some of my mums cooking smells good *sometimes*, doesn't mean I'm gona go eat a chicken burger or a slab of steak though.

  8. Thinking about eating it yes, but I still kinda crave it sometimes when I smell it.

  9. Noit doesnt, a lot of people think that and feel that i will be afended if they eat it around me but it doesnt bug me or other veggieheads i know...

its our chose to do this, we dont expect you all to follow

  10. i'm a vegan and yeah the sight or smell of meat makes me queasy, but not extremely. If i go out to eat and the person next to me has a steak i glance at it and go back to eating.

  11. Well, I gave up meat like 10 years ago and never experienced such sickness, I even can stand to watch and smell meat specialy if I'm surrounded by people who eats it. I think is just a phase, try to cope with it cause you'll be pass on invitations if you don't, just be and let be that's how I see it

  12. i am a nanny and i have to prepare meat based foods for the children and the sight/smell does make me a little nauseous at times...

  13. Sometimes.

Meat does often sicken me at the sight of it.

  14. I get this too. I try my best to ignore it, especially when I'm around someone else who is eating it, but the sight and smell (especially red meat) is so overwhelming it makes me have to leave the room just so I don't gag. I can't even stand the smell of BBQ ribs anymore, which was my absolute favorite before.

  15. After not eating meat for five years- whenever I smell it, it smells like it belongs in the toilet and not someones plate.

  16. not really..i did it as a diet not in any kind of protest. i havn't had meat in almost a year..but i help my mom prepare the family dinner with chicken every night! haha!

  17. being a former meat eater also, i think it makes me a little sick, but i can only imagine how sick it would make life long vegetarian's.
