Question:

Vegetarians - Changes that you noticed in your health?

I've been a vegetarian now for about 2 months. I recently met someone that said vegetarianism/veganism made him feel more spiritual aware, as well as being healthier. I felt fine while eating meat and feel no different now, other than knowing that I am eating a more appropriate diet. Did any of you notice any health changes after you became a vegetarian, if so how long did it take you to notice?

  1. I didn't really feel any different either but it does prevent heartattacks and cancer and thihngs like that

  2. when i went vegan, i noticed, my skin looks clear and glowy.

I see other people being sick - cold, flu, blah blah, well I can not remember the last time i was sick. Its like my body is stronger.

I am not religious, but after being vegan, i feel a greater connection with the world around me. I feel more alive. - its kinda hard to explain.

Alot of people think I am ten years younger than i actually I am. and I thinks thats because I have always been a vegetarian.

  3. I've noticed nothing in my five years.

I do feel a little healthier but it's not HUGE. Just a little.

  4. I was vegetarian and I didn't notice much.  It was when I went vegan and mostly raw foods (concentrated on greens) that I noticed night and day difference.

  5. I have lost some weight after eating a vegetarian diet for quite a few months. My friends who have tried the same thing as I have , also agree that they have lost weight. Apart from that, my digestion has improved, I feel less lethargic, and my blood pressure has improved.

  6. i've been a veggie for about 7 months and i havn't noticed any changes.....

  7. I've been a vegetarian for about 3 months and I haven't really noticed anything.  I've lost a few pounds but other than that, nothing.  I feel like a better person though.  And I feel like I am really making a difference.

  8. Vegetarianism is a great way to go if you do it correctly. Eating the "so-called-healthy-way" by substituting cheese for meat is definitely a big no-no. About half of my friends do that and always get sick. They have no idea why, but I do. When on a Vegetarian diet, it is beneficial only if you do it the right way. Look into it more, and you are guaranteed to a healthier, long life. (and im not saying that if you eat meat you'll die sooner).

Eventually, you will begin to feel different and more spiritualy aware.

Just let the eating take its course.

    :D

  9. For me, I have noticed how detached people are from their food. Meat comes in packages, and it's easy to forget that is was once a living thing.

Aside from that observation, I am a fairly healthy eater (there can be veggies who eat nothing but junk) and have been in the best shape.

  10. i am definitely healthier since giving up meat, but that said i have also cut back my "junk food" intake drastically since making the switch.  i also eat more whole foods now and less processed ones.  because the change in my diet has been more than just removing meat from the equation i cannot honestly say that going veg is the reason for the change.  i DO think, though, that eating a vegetarian diet encouraged my desire to eat healthier, subsequently causing the improvement in my health.

the main benefits that i have noticed are an increased energy level and an improvement in my skin....i have a better "glow" and rarely ever get a blemish now.

garbage in, garbage out....isn't that how the saying goes?

EDIT:  by the way, i didn't say that going veg didn't make me healthier, i'm just saying that i can't say that is the ONLY reason, since i changed my diet drastically in other ways as well.  i fully support the vegetarian diet as a means to healthy eating.
