  1. yea! and if we have a craving for it at a restaurant and it has meat in it that REALLY is a pain in the BEEP!

  2. Our entire concept of diet has to change form heavy to light on the meat, that's all... No, a salad is not the only option..  Even apple pie is vegetarian, if you leave out the lard.

Plenty of wonderful things to eat besides meat, that is for sure.

  3. I'm not a vegetarian but some of my friends and family are. You just have to get creative with cooking. Yes most places you go they don't serve anything for vegetarians. You can always pick something though and ask to switch things. I hope you aren't a vegan because that makes it even harder. More burger places have veggie burgers though now. So I guess things are slowly changing for you guys. Where I live there are actually a few restuarants that support vegetarians. I do know most places aren't like that though.

  4. NOPE

  5. I hear you sister!

  6. ...It is a suitable vegetarian meal. When you are a vegetarian that means you eat vegetables and fruits, not hamburger substitutes and cheese substitutes.

  7. at alot of restaurants if you see anything on the menu you want you can always ask them to take the meat out if possible, but it will lose some of it's taste since the fat in meat gives alot of flavor to some food.  Now a days they are doing a better job with vegetarian food but the only problem is the price !  It's cheaper to eat meat but yet the government has all these programs and initiatives trying to get Americans to eat healthier.  They need to lower the price on healthy food then !

  8. not really, it's kinda've just a fact of life for me.

Just offer to make your family meals.  Whenever I visit my mom and sister I make dinners and they don't even notice...like spaghetti, enchiladas, stir fry, rissoto, burritos, boca stuff, cheese pizza/veggie pizza, big dinner salads (like a good summer one is mixed spring greens, strawberries, mandarins (from can), sliced almonds and a chinese/oriental salad dressing.)

They're both healthier because of it too!  People don't realize you can have a meal without meat, it's a hard concept since most people are raised to believe that every dinner needs to be centered around meat - chicken, steak, meatloaf, spaghetti with meat sauce/balls, chicken tacos, beef tacos, etc etc

  9. I agree somewhat, if you're talking about a plain lettuce and tomato salad with oil vinegar dressing.

But who doesn't enjoy a salad that has grilled avocado, vine ripened tomato, red onion, lemon, pine nuts, and pesto.

There are some good salads out there, and big ones that can be a meal.

  10. I know! It's annoying. If they wanted meat and got salad, they wouldn't be happy, so why should we get salad instead of an alternative? Just because we don't eat meat doesn't mean we LIVE off salad, for gods sake!

  11. I love salads as a vegetarian....But it should be perfectly fresh original, and clean...

  12. In the US you control less than 2% of the buying public.  If I were in the business I would not go out of my way for that market.

  13. i loooooove salad

  14. I wish there were more veggie options too.

  15. Its definitly a healthy option, but we can't eat salad 24/7. Its boring.

I think there should be more veggie options on menus. Its healthier and we will have more options when we eat out

  16. OMG!  I would never say that to my vegan friend!  When she comes over I have veggie masala burgers for her, we grill asparagus/eggplant/zucchini, etc.  I make mushroom rice with veggie broth.  She's ALWAYS part of our meal--we're all happy, meat and veggie eaters a like!

  17. I will not blindly enter an establishment and ask what's vegetarian...I go to places where I know I can get something.  I would much rather cook my own food though.

There is a coffee shop that has vegan things for my family and I.  We also like to eat at Bob Evans for breakfast.  On a rare occasion I will eat Chinese...

  18. I used to be vegetarian (my mom forced me to stop) because I have a problem with the treatment of animals. I cant express how annoying that is though, what you said and i got it over and over again at every single restaurant. Somehow, salad is drilled into everybody's head that it is "vegetarian", which is really quite sad, but you know, if you asked 90% of the population what first comes to mind when they think about something vegetarian, guess what, itll be SALAD. I guess most watiros/waitresses dont have the time or energy to think through their menu for something vegetarian. But dont let them wreck your diet! Keep going with it no matter what! (in moderation of course, like if your dying... ya you get the point).

    Good luck!

  19. eat meat then and stop moaning.

animals are still gonna be slaughtered for meat not matter how much you protest.

you may as well eat meat and enjoy it.

    hmmmmmmmm....... steak............

  20. im not a Vegetarian but i think since u made the choice not to eat meat then u shouldn't complain my friend is a veg she just eats whatever she can get here hands on it would be different if u where allergic to meat or had a disease but u must suffer the consequences for your descion

  21. This is usually because the restaurant owner is ignorant of what vegetarians eat. My so will ask for things like: pasta with tomato sauce and mushrooms, fried egg sandwich, baked potato with veggies and cheese, Grilled Cheese with tomato, veggie pizza, etc. Most restaurants can prepare these meals.

  22. yes.

There are LOADS of other options like Quorn. Even if they don't have Quorn there should be an option that a non-veggi could have but just happens to be no dead animals on the plate.

It REALLY annoys me when people say they ''couldn't live without their meat'' which is a load of poo coz

    a) I kinda do

and b) there are so many other options

    - you could be veggi for a day and not even notice for example if you had cereal for breakfast, a cheese/egg/salad etc. sandwich for lunch and beans on toast for tea

they probably wouldn't even notice that they hadn't eaten anything dead for that day.

    Totally agree

    Luceii xx

  23. I am a vegetarian and its true. Almost everybody that isn't a vegetarian assumes that salad is our only choice but truley

there are many options that dont involve meat.

  24. I know.  Non-vegetarians think that all we eat are vegetables.  They are so uninformed.

  25. init n vegitables  i was a vegetarian but i was ill becoz i wernt eating nothin except quorn n its c**p

  26. I do wish more options existed, especially at my school, but a salad is good as long as it has quality ingredients in it.

My problem is more with the crappy brown salad in schools, but I will go to longhorns and get a great salad with the house dressing even though its a steakhouse.

I eat raw vegan foods, so my problem is not the salad, it is the dressings and the quality.

  27. Its annoying that people think salad is all we eat, but salads can be a suitable meal.

  28. Yes! And also the fact that the other option is usually mushrooms. I hate mushrooms!

  29. well, don't eat there !

Veggies cannot not demand a veggie option. If they don't offer one, don't eat there.

    Life is simple.

I have no problem finding veggie places to eat.

  30. Not really, but I see where you're coming from. I just happen to really enjoy salads. :]

Most restaurants have meals that can be veg*nised by simply asking them to hold the meat or cheese or whatever. Pastas and salads an sandwiches usually just have the meat on top, so it's not an issue for them to make it without.

  31. My daughter is a vegetarian and what I hate the most (besides having to cook 2 dinners) is the ungodly costs of good vegetarian foods.  $4.50 for a pack of vegetarian hot dogs? Come on!

They s***w you because they know they can...it's veggie-gouging
