  1. In my opinion it IS ok for us to eat them.

What's not ok is putting them in tiny cages, making them live in their own f***s 1 foot deep, cutting off their beaks and toes, genetically modifying them so their own bone structure is not strong enough to support their weight, force feeding them to fatten them up, pumping them full of chemicals and antibiotics, skinning and quartering them alive.....ya know, that kinda stuff.

    NOT ok!!

  2. Other animals have bodies specifically built for hunting other animals. The bodies of humans are a joke compared to other predators. No claws or fangs, limited running speed and agility, pathetic vision and hearing, poor smell, inferior strength.

The human body is just not built with the physical tools that carnivores possess to hunt and track prey.

I am not saying that it isn't okay to eat animals, I'm fixing pork chops for dinner tonight, but humans did not evolve with hunting in mind.

Then again, we haven't evolved wings either.

  3. Think about it, the meat industries torture these animals while animals that eat them to survive do not. They don't lock them in cages and shoot them up with all kinds of drugs. I'm vegan and my problem is not that people eat meat (to each their own) my problem is what these animals are put through for some else's pleasure. Check out utube.com you'll find a cornucopia of videos on how animals are treated in these factories..

  4. It is absolutely OK for us to eat them.   As a matter of fact it is (almost) impossible for us to survive if we don't.  There is a B vitamin that humans require to survive that can only be obtained in meat (they also found it in a very specific type of algae, but that's not practical for everyone as its pretty rare).  There have also been several instances of Vegan children dying of malnutrition.  Please see my sources.  Strict vegans are very unhealthy  Many who say they are strict vegans are in fact not.  They take B vitamins and/ or use medication derived from animals.

    ...not killed so fast

  6. I would like to see you running after your own prey and take a bite out of it.

Often they are not killed immediately, and far from humanely.  But no matter how bad their deaths are, it's got to be better than living a long time in a factory farm.  Some sort of release...

  7. Unfortuantely some of the vegetarians (Jen D, et al) are trying to spin answers as if all animals were tortured in factory farms.

It shows their nascence in reality.

There are MANY animals taken very humanely by hunters every year. In fact, our technology now almost perfectly ensures a humane kill if used correctly.

If your lifestyle dictates that you eat meat, it is far more humane to take an animal that has had the opportunity at life than one taken from a factory farm.

Hunting is a legitimate way to consume meat. I guarantee you will respect the animal after you kill it, gut it, drag it, dismember it, process it, store it, cook it, and eat it.

Those who do don't waste a single morsel of the food their hunting has provided.

Follow that path, and you are not wrong.

But then, there is nothing wrong with being a vegetarian either.

Meatatarian or Vegetarian, both are just simply lifestyle choices.

  8. They are not killed quickly or in a humane manner.

Do some research into factory farming.  Torture is never acceptable.

  9. Humans are animals too, just a h**l of a lot more advanced. We're omnivorous, we have canine teeth, so we're obviously designed to eat meat. Just because we made getting food easier doesn't mean it's unnatural.

For every animal they don't eat, I'll eat three.

  10. well for one they aint always killed in a human manor

    theyre tortured and humiliated

    even down to 'mars' company

they abuse animals by funding experiments!

    http://www.marscandykills.com/

    not the best ay?

and do animals need meat to survive ?

-- yes, thats why they kill,

do humans need meat to survive

-- no, hence why people go their whole lives being none meat eaters.

  11. Because what they do is the circal of life, what we do is tear down abunch of forests to make land for the soon-to-be meat, feed them and breed them until they get really fat, then we slaughter them and sell them.

The animals in the wild to it to survive

our economy does it to make money

    what is more important,

    1) making abunch of fat animals then slautering and eating them for a quick buck

    or

    2) a lion hunting to feed its pride for survival

  12. Because when animals do it, it is the circle of life.  When we do it, it's because we want trophies or un-needed food.  Also, it is the quantity and speed at which we kill them.  We kill so many so fast that the animals can not reproduce.  Then, we end up wiping out species!

I'm not a total vegetaian, i eat chicken and turkey - Rarely.

my family gives me grief about, so that is why i do

    =]

    Hope i helped

  13. Human are highly intelligence.

Human are able to make reasoning thinking.

From our reasoning thinking, we decided not to kill animal for foods.

and we know that we are able to obtain enough nutrition by not eating any meat or any foods from animal.

  14. This is how i would put it:

Most humans are adapted to an Omnivore diet( meat, vegetation, etc). But it has been shown that vegetarianism is possible for humans because you can get the protein and nutrients that you can normally get from meat  from fruits & vegetables, grains, meat substitutes and even multivitamins, Its Do-able! you just have to have the right planning and do some research. Its even healthier for u too. Plus, most of the meat that we eat at the table comes from slaughterhouses that keep animals in small cramped spacing, torture them, and kill them without anesthetic.

Animals on the other hand, are born with instincts to survive by any means necessary. Carnivores keep balance by eating herbivores. That way there isn't an imbalance of herbivoes and carnivores. If carnivores didn't eat herbivores then all the herbivores would multiply, and eat all of the vegetation. Then there wouldn't be enough plants for any of them and would eventually die from starvation. Here's where humans hunting wild animals for money or destroying habitats screws this up. Since a lot of poachers hunt animals for their fur, tusks, etc. or humans destroy habitats for cities then thats why there's a lot of endangered species. which is messing the world up.

There, thats my answer.  Hope fully this will answer your question.

  15. Because a human can make an informed choice to live a healthy life without having to kill other animals. A lion can't just decide to eat grass. But when a person goes to the shops and buys a steak they could just as easily bought a vegetarian alternative which would have been as healthy and tasty as the meat.

Because we can choose not to eat meat, it means we are eating meat simply because we like the taste. This is not the same as animals eating meat because they must to survive.

And most animals aren't bred or raised in a humane manner, let alone killed.

This is an interesting point and one I used a bit when I was a meat eater! But when I asked myself why I ate meat and the answer was, 'because I always have and becuase I like the taste' I realised it really wasn't good enough to say 'but other animals do it!'

  16. You are correct.  The physiology of the human body is designed to be an opportunistic feeder; meaning we have the physical attributes to consume both vegetables (molars) and meat (canines).  We are physically designed to eat whatever we come across (as long as it is organic and not poisonous, obviously).  Too much meat, however, makes the human body sick.  We get constipated (meat has no fiber) and lots of meats are bad for cholesterol.  However, it is difficult to get protein out of plants, thus we also need to consume some meat.

Meat tastes so yummy to us humans because it is a direct source of energy and fat.  Yummy yummy in our tummies.  The problem that our society has today is that many meat producers do not treat their animals in a humane way.  They keep the animals penned up so they never move.  Prime veal (baby cow) is kept fed on milk alone and not allowed to move at all so as to never develop muscle (which keeps the meat tender and fatty).  Chickens are kept 6 to a 3'x3' cage.  It's often inhumane.  This is true a majority of the time for foul, fish, and small animals.  Killing animals in a humane way is either exhausting or expensive.  Snapping spines is exhausting, bullets are expensive.  Not on an individual scale, but when you are mass producing meat on a large scale, a $0.20 bullet adds up, whereas slitting throats is less physically exhausting and free.  With slitting throats, the animal is alive for 5 to 20 minutes.  Very sad.

I grew up on a farm.  The cows roamed more or less free in a pasture.  The pigs had a large pen that was kept clean (contrary to popular belief, pigs do NOT like to roll around in p**p and garbage - they enjoy clean dirt, but are otherwise very clean animals).  Chickens had a pen, but were pretty much free range.  Sheep and goats were out with the cows.  Once every six months, we'd slaughter a cow with a quick and painless shot to the head, well away from the other cows.  Pigs got slaughtered with a sharp blow to the back of the head that severed their spine, again, this happened well away from the other animals.  And so on.  There's a way to swing a chicken that snaps it's neck instantly.  I can't be sure that none of the other chickens saw their buddy get swung (free range, remember?) but it's not like we let them watch, either.

My theory is survival of the fittest.  If you can't kill it, you shouldn't eat it.  So many people today have never even SEEN a cow (unless they were driving by, which totally doesn't count), much less needed to kill one.  Even more shocking, some people have never had to go out to the garden and gather up their own vegetables, either.  Everything is available pre-packaged at the supermarket.  In my opinion, those people don't deserve to eat.  Sure, I've moved away from the farm, but I know how everything works.  If modern commerce took a nose dive, I know how to hunt meat, grow vegetables and churn butter.  Were the civilized world to disappear, I'd be perfectly fine (well, I'd be bummed if there were no more Ben & Jerry's "Whirled Peace Ice Cream" but I'd sacrifice and make do).

People who are vegetarians have the luxury of choosing what they eat.  If they had to find nutrition on their own out in the wild, they would starve to death.  You eat what's available.  Period.  Sure, a balanced diet consists of mainly fruits and veggies, but a little meat (while not 100% necessary for survival) is a healthy choice.

Plus, what most vegetarians don't mention is that they need to take vitamins to supplement what's lacking in there diet.  People also think that being a vegetarian or vegan will help you be skinny.  Not true at all.  Dairy and sugar are responsible for fat.

In my opinion, vegetarians have got it wrong...  but that's ok.  I dip my french fries in my chocolate shake.  To each their own, right?
