ok, so I recently became a vegetarian, (about two and a half months ago), and ever since, I seem to be bruising very easily. I was just wondring if this has something to do with vegetarianism and if it were normal or not?

  1. When a person bruises easily it is usually because they do not work out. If you check out any athlete you will usually see bruise free skin. if there are any marks on their skin it is usually from cuts or maybe acne but no bruises, and when they are hit any bruise disappears easily and faster than the normal person.

If you do work out you may be lacking vitamin K or have a serious blood disorder.

Finally, make sure your diet is balanced and healthy (lots of raw stuff) don't be a french fry  and pizza vegetarian.

  2. omg that happens to me too...i will be checking up on this question or an answer!!

  3. yup same thing is happening to my cousin,

she said sense shes turned anorxic and brusing from not eating meat and said she is going back to eating meat i saw her eating mean hamburger and she said she will eat meat until she gains weight then she said when shes older she will be a veg. so wait until your older and eat meat and the brusing will go i promise. its cuz ur not getting enough protien!

  4. If you eat alot of soy or beans you should be getting enough iron. Maybe not enough vitamin K (brocolli, kale, chard)? Blood thinners like aspirin can cause easy bruising too. Might not be serious enough to get a physical and blood work up done but if it'll ease your mind then it might be worth it. Good luck!

  5. Bruising easily usually means you are anemic (lacking iron in your blood). Red meat and other sources of protein contain iron. You may not be getting all the necessary vitamins you need from your food now. Try iron supplements or just a women's multivitamin. You may also have poor blood circulation. If you drink alcohol it thins your blood causing poor blood circulation. Sounds like an iron deficiency, to me.

  6. Switch back to eating meat and see if it's any different.

  7. I've was vegetarian for two years (I'm a vegan now) and I never experienced that problem. Since your diet change, however, you could have eliminated certain essential vitamins from your diet that might have caused this. I would type your diet into mypyramid.org to see if you are missing anything significant.
