Apologies if this is not relevant to the veggie secrtion. Whenever on shampoos and conditoners I see the word 'Pro' should I always assume that is an animal protein ingredient?

  1. no we're useless!

  2. "Pro" as in "Pro"fessional shampoo, I guess ;)

Maybe you should worry more about cosmetic brands that perform tests on animals. Try buying shampoo and other cosmetics from brands that have banned animal testing.

  3. I think its referring to "professional"?? Not protein. The bottle should always state on the back whether animals have been involved in its manufacture. Lots of companies these days are very aware that people dont like products tested on or parts of animals. I really dont think it refers to protein, because it wouldnt be something to be proud of to put pro/animal protein on the front of the bottle cover as they know how risky it is these days to use animals at all...

  4. If it talks about keretin protein, then it is definitely from an animal.  Stick with all-vegetable shampoos and conditioners -- you can get them at any health-food store.

  5. No.  Pro probably implies they are something professional hairstylists would use.
