  1. Your not stupid honey.

It really just depends on the product. For example cheap chicken flavoured biscuits derive their taste from salt and spices but slow cooked deli honey soy chicken chips put chicken fat in the oil for flavour.

So that would be a no to chicken/beef stock, baked beans as lard is a common additive, some canned soups use meat stock. Gelatin comonly used in jelly confectionarys, ice cream, cakes is made from ground animal remains.

You can find info on the net about hidden animal ingredients in food, it really is quite eye opening.

You can't escape from some form of animal byproduct contamination unless you lived off fruit for the rest of your life but just cutting out meat is making a conscientious decision with a huge amount of benefits so don't be too worried about animal flavoured products and wether it taints your image as a vegetarian.

Did you know the average vegetarian saves 68 animals a year? I feel good too =]

  2. well be careful because some things that are chicken(or beef) flavored can be flavored with either herbs and spices, or with juices from the animal. Just make sure to pay attention to the ingredients in the food. If you mean things like "burgers and "chicken" that are marketed toward vegetarians (like garden burgers, Chik'N) then you are totally fine! Also abstaining from dairy means you are a vegan, vegetarians can eat dairy.

  3. Vegetarians do not eat chicken, beef or shrimp flavoring unless it states that it is "vegetarian beef/chicken" flavoring.

If you eat dairy products, you are not a strict vegetarian, you are a lacto-vegetarian.

  4. yes you can have dairy :)

meat flavored foods mostly dont have any meat in them there just made to tast like meat however you should alway read the back just to make sure it's ok for Vegetarians

  5. If it's meat flavored but contains no animals products, yes you would still be considered a vegetarian. It could be tofu or soy. And you can eat dairy, unless you're a vegan.
