  1. yep I have a bird. he eats nectar, fruit, veg, he loves corn kernells. He has a purple fluffy tent to sleep in, Lego and toys to play with, and a try of water to have a bath in. I let him out to play almost every day. He only eats fruit, veg, next are he loves flowers especially gravillias, bottle brush and other native Aussie flowers.

  2. My pet has a vegan diet.

    He's a bunny.

  3. No. My cat is naturally a carnivore. I happen to love my cat, so I don't want to put him on a diet that is totally against what he'd eat naturally.

  4. There was a great article in Vegetarian Times about 3 months ago about this.  Dogs and cats are not meant to be vegetarians.

Most commercial dog and cat foods have "rendered" animals though.  The animals that were not fit for human consumption or even euthanized pets all ground up together (even Iams and so called "healthy" pet foods).  I feed my dog and my cats a brand called Azmira.  They are wholistic, organic and use human quality meat in their food.

In a perfect world I would fix my dog a balanced diet of organic meat and vegetables with some whole grains thrown in, but I'm too lazy.

  5. animals like dogs and cats are natural meat eaters so i dont agree with trying to make them non anything just as long as its natural and organic with herbs there fine

  6. If i had a dog.. yes i would make him veggie..  why.. becuase they are omnivores..

plus dogs are the way they are becuase of us in the first place

  7. My kitty was pretty old when I went veg, and as she's a CAT, she needs meat.  I switched to better quality brands with meat as the main ingredient instead of byproducts.  Also, as she's quite elderly, she needs something really stinky to whet her appetite.  Unfortunately.

  8. My pet does not eat meat.

  9. No, there are not vegetarian dog foods where I live ...

  10. Cats go blind without meat in their diets, ask your vet.  Dogs eat anything, don't know what a vego diet would do to a dog.

  11. My cats are meat eaters.. but my tortoise is a vegetarian :) all she eats is vegetables - no fruits though.

  12. yes, definitely!!

  13. no but my dog and cat eat only organic foods

  14. LOL...Yes.  We have 3 budgies.  They have always been vegetarians.  They don't have to worry about me eating them either!

  15. No, he's not. He used to be vegan when I adopted him from our vegan friends but now he's carniverous. I think that vegetarianism and veganism are personal choices. Although I've never tried it, I'm sure if I put a bowl of meat and a bowl of tofu in front of him, my dog would choose the meat.

That said, if you love your pet you should read the ingredients in commercial dog food - it's nasty and the standards are very low about the quality of the meat also.

  16. No, but he eats fresh organic meat and lots of veggies.

  17. Used to have two cats up until a few months ago.  They ate a mixed diet of dry and moist cat food.  Now, since the older one passed, the younger one only wants dry vegetable mix and will not touch any canned meat, fish or chicken.  Never heard of a cat going blind not eating meat from another answer . . . . . You know what, I have this piece of property in the North Pole. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . !

  18. All of mine eat what they are supposed to,(NOT Iams!) i don't think it's right, because they're animals and i'm not going to change what they eat, it's not up to me. But i do feed my dog a lot of veggies, and he loooves them. My hedgehog eats cat food (which is what they usually eat) my chinchilla eats thompson hay and chinchilla food, dog eats dog food and cat eats cat food, fish eat fish food as well..

also changing animals diets i don't think is really good on their body, because you don't really know what is hard on them or not, so you have to be really careful!

  19. I am a vegan, my cats are not.  I don't care what some sources may say-- it is obvious that cats are pure carnivores and need meat.  While I don't like the fact that I am buying meat, I'm not going to risk my beloved kitties' health and there simply isn't a way around it.  It does make me feel better that they were a stray and a feral, respectively, and so giving them a good home was doing something to help animals.  I got them before I became vegan.

I do get them the very best foods though-- meat-based, not full of fillers and byproducts like most brands (even "premium" brands) at the retail stores.  They eat only human-grade, organic and holistic foods that I get at a specialty feed store.  I did find out that one of my kitties likes SOME vegan foods-- he swiped some pita chips and hummus from my snack bowl!

  20. no i dont force my views upon my kitty

  21. No...but he's partial to the odd Quorn burger.
