  1. I am vegetarian as well for the past 3 years plus.

I Drink fresh milk everyday in the morning and night. Breakfast is very essential meal. So, ill eat meals made of grains, wheat flour, egg, and so on without failure.

I will eat fresh yogurt with every meal. Everyday at night for supper eat cereal especially oats.

Every saturday ill drink "kismis soup". Boil kismis with water for 20 to 30 mins. (Dont add sugar, if you want add organnic sugar) Then drink. Good for blood circulation.

Eat at least 2 types of vegetables and a type of fruits everyday.

Try Indian foods. There are usually made of beans, lentils, grains.

Not forgetting the chinese herbs (easy to get chinese hebrs in Malaysia) or try Ayurvedic recipe.

I have a friend whose family practising vegetarianism. They are doing very well. Their children is the smartest children ever i met and the strongest ever. They tought me of the proper way.

I'm sure not many agree with me but personally I love vegetarianism and i will always be on vege as i feel "cleanness" in my self... Go...Don't give up.

    Good luck

  2. what symptoms did you have that lead to the declaration of a "lack of protein" ?

Its very rare that protein is a problem on a vegetarian diet, so maybe it was your general diet that wasn't a decent balance ?

( and not really related to vegetarianism )

Perhaps you can read this page, it explains what protein is, why we need it, how much we need and where we get it from:

  3. It's not common that someone loses protein from going vegetarian , unless they are on an unhealthy diet. From what you told, you are eating foods with lots of protein but are you eating them everyday?  It sounds like you're not eating enough vegetables.

Here are vegetables that are very high in protein - http://www.highproteinfoods.net/vegetabl...

Fruits that are very high in protein - http://www.highproteinfoods.net/fruit

Also, nuts and seeds are high in protein - http://www.highproteinfoods.net/nuts-see...

This site will show you tons of vegetarian foods that are high in protein, how much protein is in them, and how much you should have at least every day http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/protein.htm

You get lots of protein from ....

    Amaranth*

Cereals and grains - buckwheat*, rye, corn, rice, pasta...

    Leafy green vegetables, including spinach

Legumes - beans, lentils, peas, peanuts

    Nutritional yeast*

    Quinoa*

  4. Lack of protein?   Not eating meat does not mean lack of protein.  Protein is in pretty much everything you eat.  Unless you were lacking in calories..you were not lacking in protein..

Here are some samples of protein in foods:

1 serving whole wheat pasta :  8 grams of protein

Handful of cashews: 6 grams of protein

1 serving baked beans: 7 grams of protein

    Boca Burger: 14 grams

1 serving of peanut butter (2 Tbsp): 8 grams of protein

Let's say you had a Boca Burger on a whole wheat bun...that's pretty much 50% of your required protein for the day.

If you eat enough calories for your needs, you are getting more than you need.

  5. There is plenty that you can eat as a vegetarian.  I am vegan and I have no problem with protein.  Actually, yesterday I bought a Vegan Protein Powder from the Vitamin Shoppe.  It is delicious.  It is made from Brown Rice.  You can have it up to three times a day and each serving is 12 g of protein.  You should have about 45 g of protein in a day.

  6. you do need protein in your diet to help keep you healthy. nuts, soy, cheese, eggs are all good sources of protein. fish also is good, all depending on how strict u are with your vegan/vegeterian diet u go by.
