How can you convert me, from my Meat cravings....>

  1. Ever notice that no one sticks up for the cucumbers or carrots? How come? They're living things as well, with respiration and they consume food... That's the reason that a lot of people go vegetarian in the first place, isn't it? So why not stick up for the little tomatoes?

    A loophole in their logic.


  2. I'm not veggie but I've practically been brought up that way, cos both my parents are, so I only get it when I go out and stuff. Have found that I want it less and less though. I have loads of stuff with beans, lentils and meaty fish eg tuna steak and prawns. I use veggie mince for stuff like spag bog and lasagne, and apart from that most of the stuff I cook doesn't contain meat at all. Look for recipes you like without meat eg pasta dishes or chilli (my favourite), and eventually you won't crave it at all :-) hope this helps xx

  3. Quit meat cold turkey (no put intended) and replace it with veggie burgers, beans, and tofu. After a while (about 3 months for me) you'll quit craving meat, and really begin to love the taste of veggie burgers, etc. Don't go places where meat is served (stay away from most restraunts, lol) so that you won't be tempted. I recomend All American Veggie Burgers and Bocca Veggie Burgers. Good luck!

  5. If I were interested in saving carrots, I would! :-p (puh-leez!)  Factory farming, health, and necessity are some prime reasons.

    As far as cravings for meat are concerned, I had the same issue when I became vegetarian as an adolescent.  The best things for me were choosing other foods I LOVED!  They didn't have to be health foods at first, one thing at a time!  The other thing that was helpful was meat substitutes, like soy bacon, boca burgers, or canned vegetable protein from asian food stores (better than any other, actually!)  Bacos, by the way are vegetarian.  Just don't expect them to taste like the real thing, and appreciate them for what they are, and they could go a long way to satisfying those meat cravings!

    In the end, the thing that helped most was that while I loved the taste of meat, it hurt me more to eat meat than it did to go without it.  I had to make a decision.

    Dairy is still big in my lilfe, and that helps quite a bit.  Otherwise, your taste buds really do change, and as you eat more veggies, you really begin to appreciate the fresh, good taste, and like how it feels being healthier!

  10. You want to be converted?  Being Vegetarian is not a religion, it is a diet or a lifestyle.  Is your question meaning that you want to become a vegetarian, but you are still craving meat?

    Here's my suggestion, do your best to eat the vegetarian diet that you want to have, but you can't live a life feeling like you are in denial.  If you have an occasional meat craving, give into it. You know when somebody is on a sugar-free diet they deny themselves and deny themselves sugar until they can't take it anymore and binge on sugar until they've eaten more sugar than they would've had they not been in the diet on the first place?  Well for some people a vegetarian diet is like that, you gotta have a treat to make the other 95% of the time easier to deal with.

    Oh, and vegetarians have better tasting bodily fluids.  ;)

  18. Morning star has great "fake" meat that tastes just like real meat.  try that. after a couple months of being vegetarian you kinda loose interest in meat and you dont really crave it anymore.
