  1. I really doubt that anyone has been to a party where the only thing offered was meat.

  2. yes, but it didnt bother me, i just aet when i got home, its not their job to get food that suits my personal interests, to have a diffrent eating style of the rest of my family, its my job to take care of my personal deit that i chose to have

  3. Yes, it was so horrible and then everyone was asking me why I wasn't eating and I was like "I AM A VEGETARIAN FOR THAT LAST TIME"  And they said, well cant you have some grilled vegetables?  I was like "They were grilled on the same place as meat"  They just dont understand and I have been a vegetarian my whole life.

I am always lucky that they have chips and raw vegetable so I just eat those.

I have left the place before when I was close to home and just ate dinner at home and then went back to the place. I have also eaten dinner before so I wouldn't have to worry.  I also bring things that I can eat after having this problem so many times.

I felt very pissed but I am use to it now so that I am prepared to bring my own things that I know I can eat.  It makes things easier.  I also get so mad when people offer me food that is meat, they know that I am a vegetarian.

I dont think that it is fair but I mean I am like the only vegetarian in my family besides two of my others sisters so I am kind of lucky because they also bring some things so it makes it easier.

  4. I never liked my family's cooking for the most part, and yes it usually is meat and cheese foodstuffs. So for all of my life (even when I wasn't a vegetarian) I'd only eat what I brought with me.

So I know to bring snacks with me, just in case. Unless my sister-in-law cooks, she cooks some really good food with tofu in it.

  5. there were 3 situations...either the veg dished were kept eparately in the kitchen for me but i had to eat it all alone there Or there were artificial meat dishes placed next to the real meat dishes...once i did to a christmas party and all i ended up eating were cookies and a glass of coke..it was unfair alright...

  6. ive been a vegetarian for 3 years and whenver i go to a part or even peoples houses i ALWAYS eat beforehand - its not up to them to have to cater to our special diets, this was our choice so we shuold take care of it ouselves.

  7. well, they always offer me but I rather eat at my place first. then if they have something I can eat I would. they do look at me as if I was crazy but I dont care. I did not leave because is not only about eating but to spend some time with my family members. I felt unconfortable because they offer you everithing and youre like no thanks, no thanks. but they know me so its ok. what I would consider the next time is to take food that I can eat and share with them so that they dont feel left out.

  8. being a vegetarian makes you the outsider. you have to expect to be inconvenienced. it's not like they're purposely targeting you. i doubt your family woke up one day and said, "you know how to really stick it to our vegetarian relative? if we serve nothing but meat". don't be such a victim. next time call ahead and see what they plan on serving and plan accordingly. eat before you leave or bring snacks with you. find a solution instead of just complaining about the problem.

  9. I just didn't eat anything. So, what's the big deal? Eat something before you go and eat something after you come home. Not a problem.

+ But it is irritating when they say "Can't you have just a bit of fish? I know some vegetarians that eat fish." That just pisses me off. They seem to think that all vegetarians are the same, or that eating a bit of meat makes it ok.

  10. I have been a vegetarian all my life and fully enjoy my food. I never felt any necessity of going for meat/chicken/fish etc.

At the same time, I am proud of my excellent health.

  11. Usually, if food is being served, there are side dishes, and I have never been anywhere in my life where both the entree and side dishes were all meat. So, if and when I find myself in a situation like that, I get the side dishes.

I've never left any gathering because of it. How did I feel? I don't recall feeling anything special in these situations.
