  1. Taking classes in evolution and developmental biology have pointed me   into the direction of caution.  Humans have evolved off the diets of omnivores, getting key developmental nutrients and vitamins from meat, especially milk (during the early stages).  I would strongly recommend going to a pediatrician and nutritionist.  I personally wouldn't like to have my baby on constant supplements...you never know what the irreversible consequences are down the road.

I hope these links help you out in making a decision.  They are all from peer-review scientific journals and not right-winged or hippy magazines.

  2. a pediatrician should always be consulted for the babies diet. Like many adults a baby could have food allergies .

  3. You would introduce solid foods just the same way any other parent would.  Cereals, fruits and vegetables are a baby's starter foods.  When you come to the point where other parents would introduce meat, you introduce other protein sources like lentils instead.  There are loads of good books available to guide veg*n parents in meeting the nutritional needs of their little ones.  "Raising Vegetarian Children" by Joanne Stepaniak and Vesanto Melina is excellent.

  4. It depends on baby's age.

Here's a handy food-introduction schedule for infants ages 6 months to 4 years.  You can modify this for a vegetarian/vegan baby simply by omitting the animal foods.

  5. Talk to your doctor; they should be able to point you in the right direction.

  6. NO, THERE IS NO SUCH A THING. BABIES "NEED" a complete diet, iron from the meat. Why dont you let him choose when he is old enough if he wants to be a vegetarian. In the midtime, be more reponsible and feed your babie with a COMPLETE diet, which includes meat.

  7. Babies should drink breast milk.

Nearly all foods that are recommended for infants starting on solids are plant foods.

  8. well babies by nature are actually vegetarians the first 6-9 months of there lives there isnt anything wrong with it and there isnt anything wrong with vegan babies either to back up my point and provide you with more info here are some awesome links
