  1. beans can replace the iron/protein in meat. That is of course if you mean legumes and not the green long beans.

    Vegetarian food pyramid:

    Vegan food pyramid:

  2. Google vegetarian food pyramid.

Beans and everything in the pyramid replace meat

  3. The Healthy Diet Pyramid from Health Promotion Board (Singapore), is applicable to both non-vegetarin and vegetarian.

For the Meat portion, it stated Meat and alternatives 2-3 servings.

There is a section that stated :

If you are a vegetarian ...

The Healthy Diet Pyramid can be used to plan a vegetarian diet that meets the nutrient needs of healthy adults. Pulses (e.g beans, peas, lentils) are good sources of protein. They are also part of the meat and alternatives group on the Pyramid.

For a balanced diet, include one plant-based protein in every meal."

And it even suggest that for a healthy diet (referring to non-veg). Replace meat in dishes with beans and bean products (e.g tofu) on some days.

  5. google it. there they will have a picture to follow, if you need it. but beans cannot REPLACE meat, they are just a subsitiute.

    -30% grains

    -10%others (such as substitutes, (beans!))

  6. Just a general "vegetarian food pyramid" image search in google.

Yep beans, tofu, legumes, mushrooms are all great replacements for meat. You can also try some meat substitutes, but they are good in moderation or as a treat.

  7. Nuts, seeds, beans can all provide the nutrients of meat.

www.pcrm.org has a pyramid I believe. I used it when I was vegan.

  8. http://www.veganfoodpyramid.com/vegan-py...

  9. It's the exact same as the regular food pyramid except that in the protein section you don't have the "meat" option.  You need to get your protein from the other sources listed, mainly beans and nuts.

  10. It should be the same except meat and /or eggs/dairy is replaced with plant sourced foods

Proper nutrition is mostly universal and the source of nutrients is immaterial.
