Or if you prefer- companion animal/s.

My pet is a vegan. What about yours? If you have a cat or dog, do you feed it organic meats?

Thanks for your feedback =D

  1. Fancy feast. My mom won't let me buy vegan pet food, she thinks they don't know (or care) the difference. Honestly, my dog doesn't care what's organic or not. He jumps on the table to get food, or other edible objects. If he wants it he eats it. That's why he's 6 pounds overweight >=|

  2. I feed them regular dog and cat food.  I have 3 dogs and 7 cats and the vegetarian stuff is just too expensive at this time.

  3. Yes, I feed my dog organic meat that I cook myself(ick) and vegetables too

  4. Don't you have a rabbit?  LOL  Rabbits are herbivores..not vegan : )

My cats eat cat food..they are carnivores and my dogs eat dog food.  I have 8 cats and 4 dogs so buying organic pet food is not in the budget.

  5. my dogs eat eagle pack dog food.

it's not vegetarian or vegan, but it is all-natural and holistic, and while not 100% organic it does use organic meats and pesticide-free veggies.  it's a great brand, i think.

it's based out of indiana, so buying it also contributes to the local economy.  here is the link to their website:

my dogs LOVE carrot chips as treats =)

but then again, i think they'd eat just about anything.

KIRBYISH:  REALLY!? my dog has hot dog =)

  6. I have family pets(my fam eats meat so the dogs eat meat) I do have a vegan bunny and guinea pig though. Theyr adorable!

  7. lol!

My gerbils don't have a problem being vegans!

  8. Please remember that humans are omnivores, so we can choose whether we want to eat meat or not, but not all animals are. Dogs are also omnivores (though they aren't as efficient at digesting vegetables as we are).  Cats are strict carnivores.  They can't digest vegetables well at all.  Health-wise, it would be the same thing as trying to force a rabbit to eat only steak.  They just aren't equipped to do it.

  9. I have a pet rainbow Lori named Tango. He loves to eat fruits, some veggies, native Aussie flowers like gravelia and bottle brush, he also likes to eat his nectar powder. Lorikeets don't eat seeds because they have a sensitive brush on the end of their tongues designed for extracting nectar for flowers. I give him some bread and honey as a treat sometimes too.

  10. Dogs - eat dog food.

    Birds - eat bird food.

Fish - eat fish food - - except the one tank where they at times like to attempt to take bites out of my hand - which I figured out they only do when they are in 'flirt' mode with each other.

    All are my companions.

Dogs sleep with me - go where I go - except for work.

Birds are in my bedroom, bathroom, dinning area, and front room - I talk to them all the time.

Fish - I talk to them - weird - I know.  Even play with them with my finger on the outside of the tank - which they like to chase.

  11. a dog can survive being vegan. i'd highly suggest you not make your cat vegan though, unless you want it to die. cats need meat

  12. I feed my little companions bird seed, grape nuts cereal, other kinds of cereal, fresh water, timothy hay, greens, and fresh fruit once in a while but they usually won't eat it...oh yeah and gravel!

    Guess what my companions are!

They are budgies!  They are adorable.  I built them a 4x3x4 foot aviary that is in our living room.  They are running around on the newspaper in the bottom of their cage picking through the husks from their seed looking for gravel to eat:)  They need the gravel to aid in digestion.  It is sold in pet stores and grocery stores.

So yes, my pets are vegan:)  You talked about your bunny before...I bet you take good care of him!  You sound like you are a nice animal loving person.  Good question.  I starred it.

  13. My Husky has been vegan for several years now and is very healthy, in fact more so because he is less of a tubbo. Dogs are well documented for their omnivore like abilities.

The oldest lived dog in Britain in fact was a vegan and died around 29 years of age.

I used to go with v-dog but the price of the food plus shipping was killing me. Great food though, no complaints about that.

I went then with Avoderm which is also pretty good but the shipping was still killing me.

Finally I ended up with Natures Recipe via my local Petco which gives me a free bag of food every ten I buy. This puts the price well under a 1 per pound which for good quality vegan pet food is a steal.

I attempted to feed my girlfriends cat vegan for a while. First I tried Evolution

which had a potential ph balance issue so I switched to vegecat which you have to put together and bake yourself.

Our cat ate the food pretty good but seemed to tire of it so my girlfriend bought her Wysong which though is good quality sadly has slaughtered animals in it.

In the future I plan to be very careful as to only take in animals which can be fed vegan.

  14. My kitteh can has cheezburger. :P

He's been around longer than my vegan diet, and I'm not going to change his healthy diet because I changed mine. I've tried, and he refuses to eat. I use organic food, most of the time, but nothing vegan. Although, I think he likes soymilk...

  15. I am a vegan, my pets are not.

I feed my cat an organic chicken based cat food from Whole Foods called "Pet Promise" with no factory farmed meat, no byproducts, no hormones and no antibiotics.

My dog eats mostly raw organic chicken with the bones, and some organ meats.  It's totally gross, but she is really healthy now, and her teeth are SO white!

My dog was vegetarian for many years, but after she turned eleven she started to have some problems.  A holistic vet advised the bones and raw food diet, and she improved miraculously.  (Preparing her food is disgusting, but her health is more important than my gag reflex!)

  16. I have a dog who eats a brand of kibble made with organic non-battery caged chicken and no rendered byproducts.  If my home was strictly veg*n I'd put more effort into sourcing a veg*n dog food formula because I know they can do really well on the right one.  But my boyfriend is a meat eater and as long as there is meat coming into the house, the dog's vegetarianism seems like a bit of a moot point.  He likes the food he's on and he's doing really well on it.

  17. Lol, is that food even healthy...? It's  my cat's choice what 2 eat, if she is a carnivor let her eat the meat

  18. I'm looking into getting vegan V-dog food for my puppy, but I'm waiting to hear back from them whether or not that food is suitable for her age.

  19. I have rats and I feed them some dog food and a mix of like oats fruit and nuts.  I think the dog food may have meat in it But there is nothing I can do about that, And my dog gets dog food and table scraps
