Veiled Applause expected to win Queen Mother’s Cup
Veiled Applause will unveil his inherent racing capabilities at York racecourse on Saturday, June 16 in a bid to notch up top spot in the Queen Mother’s Cup (Lady Amateur Riders) (Handicap) that is scheduled to start at 2:05 (GMT).
On the soft course of 1 mile and 4 furlongs, the John Quinn-trained bay gelding will face 19 strong rivals. Thus, this is going to be an acid test of the 77-race veteran horse’s talent and experience. The Class 3 contest contains £12,478 in the prize purse.
Veiled Applause possesses a decent track record. The nine-year-old sprinter has 9 epic triumphs to his name. Since the dawn of 2012, he has been at the peak of form.
On April 21, the brilliant runner elegantly finished first in Thirsk Pavilion Dine & Race £74.95 Handicap that took place at Thirsk track.
He went on to get a third on May 5. The talented son of Royal Applause out of Scarlet Veil marvellously notched up top spot in his second last start entitled as Middleham Trainers Association Handicap. This race went down at Ripon course on May 20.
Veiled Applause finished 6th in his last outing on May 31. Thus, he is carrying immense winning momentum at the moment.
If the gelding manages to make a perfect use of his skills, he will definitely have up to 90 percent chances to carry the day.
From the other runners, Sir Boss and Troopingthecolour are likely to perform well in the Mother’s Cup.
Sir Boss excellently claimed an epic conquest on May 21, 2012. This was Riders’ Classified Claiming Stakes that was held at Wolverhampton. The Michael Mullineaux-trained bay gelding proceeded to finish 4th in his last start on June 7. As a whole,
he has won 8 of his total 39 starts so far.
On the other hand, Troopingthecolour gained a runner-up rank in each of his last three outings. Prior to this, the Steve Gollings-trained bay gelding had accomplished a fabulous hat-trick during the last year.
By and large, there will be a rip-roaring scuffle in the race but Veiled Applause is likely to thrive convincingly. Good luck to all the runners.
