Everton striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Apostolos-Vellios-c6408 set himself the target of securing a place in the Toffees starting line-up this coming season, and admitted that he was high on confidence after netting a goal against Morecambe on Saturday.
The Greek International signed a four year deal with the Merseyside club in January 2011 for a 250,000 pounds transfer fee. He featured in just 3 games during his debut season at Goodison Park, but netted 3 goals in 15 appearances for the Toffees during
the 2011/12 campaign.
Vellios, who was named the club’s Young Player of the Season in May, scored a goal in Everton’s 4-1 win against Morecambe on the weekend. He is also expected to feature in his side’s next pre-season friendly fixture against Dundee United on Wednesday.
The 20-year old let out his delight on being able to get on the score sheet, and was even happier to see his side emerge as winners.
He also revealed that he was looking to cement his place in the squad ahead of the next term, and viewed every game as an opportunity to impress the manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes.
He told the club’s official website, “Of course the players my age are trying to impress the manager. The older players are maybe just focused on getting ready for the new season. For me I can’t wait for every game as it is an opportunity to try and do well.”

With plenty of action still to come before http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 kick off their 2012/13 campaign, the striker conceded that he was in much better shape now than during the last year’s pre-season games, and was desperate to leave an imprint during the upcoming friendly
fixtures.
“I have had an extra year before and I know how to start – this is my second pre-season at Everton and that can help me. I feel better all the time, psychologically stronger and also more comfortable with my teammates.”
