Vendor claimed to lose check but later cashed both the original and replacement checks?

Two months ago I sent a check to a vendor for services received. Three weeks ago the vendor claimed to have lost the original check. I sent another check and meant to cancel the original check but I never did. I found out that the vendor cashed both checks as soon as they received the second. Now the vendor refuses to take my calls or meet with me.

I know that I should have canceled the original check - that was a huge mistake that I'm really regretting now. My question is: what can I do now? I want the money that I overpaid refunded to me.

In addition to suing him report him to the Better Business Bureau.

Sue the b*****d!! Do you have his bill for the services? Take that to a lawyer and sue him. Don't call him, don't recommend him to anyone, actually tell anyone who would use him that he is not a good business man.
