Veneer Removal?

I bought an old cedar chest at a household sale. The thin veneer is chippin away. Does anybody know the easiest way to strip the veneer off?

Lowes/Home Depot would be the best way to answer this.  Lots of veneer is different, so there are different ways to remove it without damaging your chest.  If it's possible (and you have one near you) take it to them----that's where you'll get your best answer.
