Question:

Veneer Warranty Not Honored-Go Back to My Dentist and Ask for A Refund?

I had got Lumineers brand veneers a few years ago from a dentist in my area. They offer a 5 year warranty on them and agree to fix any that chipped or broke. The dentist who did them at first would send to the place that made the veneers in Florida and reapplied a new one then he would "fix" them by either filing them down or applying bonding material. I called Lumineers and asked them about this as I had wanted to get the chips fixed for graduation coming up.

They told me I could get them fixed at any dentist who did the procedure so I saw another dentist. He told me they looked discolored either from the bonding material used to fix them or the bonding on the actual veneer breaking down and told me I should call my former dentist who applied the veneers and ask for them to fix them right or for my money back.

He told me I should have been given a 5 year warranty paper as I never got one and to make sure they were actually Lumineers and not another brand. and I never received the paperwork about the warranty. In the paperwork it lists the apt's you have for regular cleanings to maintain the warranty and I was told nothing about this.

He told me if the dentist won't honor the warranty I should sue. I paid $6500 (when I had a lot more money than I do now) so it was a LARGE investment. Also the ones he did on other women in the office looked way better and far different than mine even when I first got them.

How should I proceed with trying to figure out how to go about this? I would love to have this dentist re-do them as they look far better than mine did in the beginning or now.

Thanks so much!!

  1. go back to the office that did them and ask for your records and x-rays and demand a refund. Tell them that you will file a complaint with the board of dentistry. (and if they don't refund, do it) also tell them that you will sue. this will get them moving. All of the offices that i have worked in always refunded. they don't like complaints good luck

  2. I've read that they do come with a 5 year warranty and I'm sure that's from the lumineer people.  And you should be able to get that warranty honored by the dentist who applied them.  I don't think he should be patching them up with bonding material.  Before suing I would see if the lumineer people can help you with this.  But think about this.....if you p**s the dentist off you might not want him working in your mouth.  Good luck.
