Friends,

So far we knew that the Italian name of Venice is Venezia. But

is there a specific place which also is known as Venezia inside venice? We were seeing the official transport site of venice(ACTV)for an extra-urbano bus service .It shows the last stop is VENEZIA.Is there a specific area called so or it means the PiazzleRoma bus terminal itself. Is there any other main bus terminal in venice except Piazzle Roma.

Please help.

Thanks in advance

  1. Venice is quite a big municipality including several parts both on islands and on mainland (Mestre, Marghera etc...).

The area named Venice city, is the core of the municipality and is all built on islands. It is the area you usually refer to as "Venezia" or "Venice".

The only bus terminal for "Venice" is Piazzale Roma. The only train station is Venezia Santa Lucia. They both stand at the end of the bridge connecting the island part to Mestre, on mainland. After that point the only motorized means of transport allowed are motorboats.

There are other bus terminals and train stations on mainland, the most important of them is Venezia-Mestre. Venezia City and Venezia Mestre are connected by frequent trains and busses.
