    Most of the people in Venezuela are Roman Catholic.  Spanish is there official

    language.  Some of there most popular food dishes are Arepas and Pabellon Creole.  

    Traditional dresses for women are full skirted and colorful.  They are worn only for      

    traditional dances.  Never as a costume.  Traditional dress for men is called a liqui-liqui.  

    It is pants with a strait collard jacket.  

    The Arts

    Venezuela’s national dance is Joropo.  Joropo is festive, energetic, and passion

    ate dance.  It is usually done with a man and a woman.  Some traditional things they do

    is when someone comes over to their house, they may only offer a snack and a drink

    but it is offered graciously.  Gaita is traditional Christmas music.  It must rhyme.  It has

    maracas and a cuatro for music.  A cuatro is a small guitar typically with four or five

    strings.  Manuel Cabre, Hector Poleo, and Martin Tovar are all famous painters.  Tovar’s

    best-known work is found on the ceiling of the Capitolio Nacional.  His mural is of Simon

    Bolivar’s victory at the battle of Carabobo.
