Venezuelan player Veronica Maria Gomez Carabali passes away at age of 26 – Volleyball news
It is quite saddening to learn about the death of Venezuelan player Veronica Maria Gomez Carabali, who passed away this past Friday, April 13.
The entire volleyball family is in mourning after her death at a young age. The thrombosis contraction, which is the formation of blood clot inside blood vessel, has been told as the reason of death.
She was associated with one of the top club team of Azerbaijan, the Lokomotiv Baku, that recently finished as the top team of 2012 CEV Women’s Challenge Cup. Carabali developed an injury to her Achilles’ heel while playing for her team in the running season.
She was given treatment at a local hospital before undergoing surgery in Russia. She was originally from Venezuela and when she got back home after surgical treatment in Russia, the thrombosis contract and she left the world on Friday at the age of 26.
The International Volleyball Federation, her teammates, and volleyball family pass on their condolence to the family and friends of the deceases.
Carabali was brilliant player and great human being. She started her volleyball career at very tender age of 14 in her native country Venezuela. She was part of the Junior National Team of Venezuela that competed at the 1999 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Junior
World Championship in Canada. She proved her endeavours in the junior squad and then stepped up to the senior team.
The coaches acknowledged her talent and skill, and help her climb up the stairs of fame an international player.
In 2002, Carabali represented Venezuela at the Central American Games in El Salvador. Overall, the Venezuelan squad settled for second-place finish. In the coming years of her career, she drew more attention on account of convincing game.
She competed at different national, intercontinental, and international tournaments and earned a great name. She moved to Lokomotiv Baku in 2011 and played a great role in her team’s success.
Currently, the national team of Venezuela is preparing for the upcoming CSV Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament in Sao Carlos, Brazil and Carabali was due to be called up for qualifiers.
