Vengsarkar calls for more overseas trips for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 A team – Cricket News Update
India’s former chairman of selectors, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dilip-Balwant-Vengsarkar-c54093, on Wednesday asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to arrange as much foreign trips for its A team as possible, to help the young players get more exposure of playing
in different conditions across the globe.
Speaking to media reporters at his cricket academy in Thergaon on Wednesday, the 56-year-old former Indian captain, Vengsarkar, said that the A team plays a crucial role in the formation of a strong senior team, so it is necessary to have
a strong A team.

“These players will be the ones who will replace the seniors when they retire. So, if you have a strong A team, you have a strong senior team in future,” said the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Maharashtra-c811 born former India batsman.
The Cheteshwar Pujara-led A team of India is currently in West Indies, playing the West Indies A team in a full-fledged away series, comprising of three un-official Test matches, three one-dayers and two Twenty20 matches. The tourists
have miserably faltered in the opening two Test matches – 125-run defeat at Kingstown and a 10-wicket crushing at Gros Islet – but Vengsarkar is happy that it is at least giving the young players an exposure to Caribbean conditions, and has asked BCCI to arrange
more such tours to Australia and England as well.
“I am glad that the BCCI has sent the boys to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. That way, they will get more exposure and will get used to foreign conditions,” said the former Indian cricketer,
who played 116 Tests and 129 ODIs during an international career spanning 1976-91.
“I also feel…Players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Manohar-Gavaskar-c91863 should be sent with them, may be as coach, so that the players can get some guidance,” Vengsarkar added further.
There have also been reports that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is in talks with its http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 counterparts to finalize a tour for its A team sometime in August-September this year.
