If I go to Venice on a Friday morning, and come back Sunday night (not a long trip) How much Money would you reccomend I take with me? Roughly? . Im just going to wonder around really and Im trying to do it as cheaply as possible (kinda impossible as it's Italy, but hey!). Im not going on a big spending spree. How much should I budget for food and drink per day in a typical bar/restaurant? I might take the occasional water bus too, How much are they?

  1. I've been to Venice several times, including just last year.  I would recommend a budget of about $500 a day.  That should enable you to stay at a reasonable hotel and eat at reasonable restaurants.

  2. the gondolaz are really expensive!!

i talk frm experience babe.u must carry abt rs35000-50000 as u'll hve to buy giftz n stuff

  3. Depending by where you stay and where you eat, Venice could be one of the most expensive cities in Italy. If you are on a budget, try to avoid areas like San Marco or Rialto to sleep or eat and get food from a supermarket, for example (in few of them you will be able to find cooked food and sandwiches). Always read the menus outside the restaurants and ask how much is the fare for sitting (some amount will be added). Also, keep in mind the fares of museums and churches, if you are going to visit them. I think that without museums tickets, you will be good with $400 a day.

About the waterbus, I warmly suggest a three-days ticket which will cost you 31Euros. One way ticket costs 6.5 Euros but with the 3 days pass you will be able to visit Venice and other nearby islands without worrying about buying tickets. There also is a two-days ticket if you prefer.
