Venice High boys volleyball team defeats Hamilton on Monday
Volleyball is not a sport that is only popular in the Western world, the game also has ardent fans all across the globe. The sport is not just restricted to the professional level but it has been able to penetrate the hearts of people at the grass roots
level as well. It is not uncommon to find both the men as well as the women practicing as well as displaying their skills in volleyball.
Volleyball has not limited itself to adults; the younger crowd also finds attraction in playing the game. The popularity of the sport stems from the fact that it provides easy, simple rules and does not need a lot of preparation in order to start playing.
For this reason, various schools have undertaken vigorous training programs that are aimed to develop and harness the skills of the young athletes that enthusiastically take up the sport.
One such team is the Venice High boys volleyball team. They proved themselves as the best teams around after Venice High was able to secure a well-deserved clean sweep over the Hamilton team. Not only was the Venice High team able to defeat their rivals
by winning three sets back-to-back, they did so in the home ground of Hamilton.
Furthermore, the margins by which Venice High was able to bag each set of the game were large, apart from the exception of the second set.
By the time that Venice High was celebrating its well deserved win by hooting joyously and the Hamilton team was heading out of their own court with heavy hearts, the scoreboard read as 25-19, 25-22, 25-7.
The overall season wins of the Gondoliers stand at the figure of 11. They have been able to bag these victories at the expense of suffering losses that equal to be two.
Interestingly, the number of times that the Gondoliers have been able to reach a tie situation in this season so far tally at 17. In comparison, the numbers of victories that the Gondoliers have been able to register in league play total to be six. The numbers
of losses incurred by the Gondoliers in league play also equal to be six.
The match that the Gondoliers have just won marks the end of their regular season. The win over the Yankees that was achieved in such a decisive fashion is just what they needed.
“We are still working on a lot of things, but to end the season like this is just great,” coach Allen Hunt of the Gondoliers said. “We really controlled our game today and cut down on mistakes. We can still cut down on them more, but we'll have time to work
on that.”
