Venice Lido?

Hi,

I'm going to Venice on the 28th August for 3 nights - I'm staying at the Helvetia Hotel on the island of Lido, and I'm flying in to Treviso airport - does anyone know how much it costs to get from the airport to the island and how long it takes? Also, what are the prices like to eat out? I'm travelling alone - I don't want to spend alot of money - where are some good places to eat etc - I don't plan on going off the island as I'm going for the film festival, but I would like to do a little bit of exploring if time permits - any ideas? One last thing - is it a safe area?

Thanks

  1. Treviso (Ryan Air and others) have a free shuttle to Venice's Piazzale Roma. The ride may take some 20 minutes in good conditions. From Piazzale Roma take the no. 82 or the 1 vaporetto to the Lido (Euro 6.00). Seems like your place is close enough to walk to from where the vaporetto will leave you (last stop).

There are many places to eat on the Lido - many next to your hotel. You'll be best to ask at the hotel for they may afford you discounts at some of the local restaurants.

Expolre the Lido - it's got beaches and parks and lovey villas. Rent a bike (around from your hotel) and go. There isn't all that much traffic so don't fear. Bring your swim suit. the Lido and where you will stay is absolutly safe.

I hope to be there for the Film Fest too. Hope to see you!

  2. Once in venice at the train station if you want a nice boat ride you can take the ferry to the lido.  it gives you a nice scenic view of the city.  they also have a Cafe onboard  enjoy the view with espresso

  3. From treviso airport you have to go to Venice railway station.First of all catch a bus from the airport to Treviso railway station. There you can get a train to Venice. It takes about 20 minutes.Once in Venice, get a ferry to venice lido.Yes,it's a safe area but quite expensive since it's frequented by walthy people.

It would have been easier if you arrived at Venice airport but it's ok anyway.

  4. from treviso to venice you have to go by train.when you arrive in venice take the traghetto.visit also mestre because is cheapper than venice, and there are also a lot of pub.

  5. If you're flying Ryanair, they do a bus from Treviso airport to Piazzale Roma in Venice.  You can then get the No 1 Vaporetto (boat) to Lido.  There are also local buses (Lido is one of the few parts of venice with a road) but you'd need to change in Treviso town and again in Mestre.
