  2. The practical way, by bus, there isn't a lot to see. You'll see the island of Venice, but only the industrial, port side.

The impractical way is to take a water taxi (almost to the island of Lido), enter the Grand Canal near St. Marks and take the canal to the port side of the island. It will be spectacular, but expensive.

If at all possible, fly in a day or two early and stay in Venice - it's not to be missed.

  3. There are two airports that serve Venice. The main airport is Marco Polo and the airport in Treviso serves budget flights such as Ryan Air and Transavia.

If you're arriving at Marco Polo, there's a bus that goes to Piazzale Roma in Venice. The bus costs 3 euro and takes 20 minutes. It's a short walk from there to the cruise ship terminal. There isn't much to see along the way other than admiring the view of the lagoon as you cross the causeway. A taxi or limo service will take you directly to the port, but will be much more expensive.

If you arrive at Treviso airport (Canova), the buses are timed to meet the flights. The bus costs 6 euro and takes 70 min. There isn't a lot to see along the way, but if you've got time, Treviso is a nice town to visit. There's some interesting art and architecture. If you go into the town, you can catch a train to Venice and walk or take the vaporetto to the port.

There's a baggage deposit at Piazzale Roma where the bus will drop you off. You could store your bags there and explore the city for a while before going to the ship if you have extra time.

You can find the bus schedules from either airport to Piazzale Roma here: http://www.atvo.it/index.php?lang=en
