Venice film festival experience?

we will be in venice the weekend of the film festival. Has anyone been or heard anything about it? just wondering what to expect. big crowds, lots of movie stars and celebrities? or is it pretty low key?

No it isn't a pretty low key. There are a lot of movie stars, Italian star and world stars too. Crowds of course.

lots of crowds also because in Venice in that period (September) is high season, so you have people everywhere... book in advance if you go to an Hotel.

Film festival is on the Lido island but apart from that you don't have much , may be is better to stay in Venice and go to Lido.
