The former Indian pacer and incumbent bowling coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Venkatesh Prasad, has played down the perception that T20 cricket is all about batsmen, claiming that this format of the game also gives immense learning and thriving opportunities
to bowlers.
He opines that if bowlers take the shorter version as a challenge, they can be able to develop first rate bowling techniques along with ramping up their records by taking quick wickets.
Talking to the media today, Venkatesh said, “I think it’s a great challenge and the bowlers should be looking at these opportunities. People say T20 is a batsman’s game - yes to a large extent. But having said that if you are smart enough as a bowler and
if you know what you are doing, you can pick up a lot of wickets.”
The coach has cited the example of and applauded the RCB’s bowler, S http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashok-Aravind-c46347, who, he thinks, has rapidly evolved into a match-winning player, courtesy of T20 cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“In every game you can see some sort of an improvement in Aravind. He is a very smart bowler,” said Prasad.
Prasad is hopeful of his team’s strong comeback in the ongoing tournament of Champions League T20. He has revealed that the Challengers are now focusing on their fielding after losing the opening game of the event.
“That’s (the loss to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861) behind. We are concentrating on our fielding. The boys are putting in lot of effort in the nets, so I don’t see why we can’t field well,” stated the coach.
The RCB are placed at number four in Group B with zero points. They are scheduled to play their next game on September 29 against Kolkata knight Riders.
The finalists of the IPL-4 are led by the former Kiwi captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221, who singlehandedly took them to the final of the last IPL event.
Prasad is confident of the skills of his players, hoping for their resurgence in tomorrow’s clash. The ex-pacer played 33 Tests and 161 ODIs during his International career.
