Venkatesh Prasad will help ACC in promoting game in the region
The former bowling coach of India, Venkatesh Prasad, is all set to work with the Asian Cricket Council in promoting the game in the region. Prasad will be visiting various regions of Asia to discover the young talent and will help
them groom their skills.
"I have to create proper infrastructure by guiding the local associations," told Prasad while talking to the media reporters. "It means I have to spot talent and also ensure they have a proper coaching staff to carry on the grooming
process."
Earlier the Board of Control of Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, a member of ACC, had suggested the council that the subcontinent cricketing legends should travel to lesser-recognized cricket playing nations in Asia to discover and polish the young
cricketing talent.
The pace bowler made 33 Tests appearances for India picking up 96 wickets while 161 one-day international earned him 196 ODI wickets. Soon after leaving the International cricket in 2004, Prasad started coaching. He has coached the
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Karnataka-c801 Ranji team, Under-17 side of India before he was appointed as the bowling coach of the national side. Currently Prasad is the bowling coach of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League and is among the expected names for the post of Australian
bowling coach.
Prasad said he would spend more time with the regional coaches to meet the basic agenda of programme and its successful completion.
"I will study the training and coaching programmes and then make the necessary recommendations. I will be conducting coaching seminars and organising competitions."
The 41-year-old Prasad was one of the Indian cricketers who were awarded a Level III coaching certificate by England for the first time. Prasad said that coaching various sides has helped him stay in touch with the sport. “I firmly
believe in modern training methods but not at the cost of the basics. The basics remain the same, only your mindset changes," said the Indian pacer.
Prasad will begin his ACC assignment from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malaysia-c2949 from 1st December.
