Venlafaxine and Insomnia?

So, it's the third night that I have been on Venlaflaxinielandlxnalanltnenalne and I have been up for 21 hours now. Does this medication have insomnia as a possible side-effect? I've never had insomnia, but this feels like it must be it. It's 4a.m. and I'm bored as sh*t and can't sleep because my legs and arms want to dance. I think I'll go play some computer games or something, but yeah, will this side-effect eventually go away?

  1. Liquid Calicum helps with insomnia.  Playing computer games or watching TV can make the mind active thus reducing the chance of sleeping.  You need to relax the brain instead of making it active.  A warm milky drink normally helps.

  2. side effects:

Most common: asthenia, sweating, nausea, constipation, anorexia, vomiting, somnolence, dry mouth, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness, abnormal dreams, anxiety, tremor, abnormal vision, anorgasmia, abnormal ejaculation/o****m and impotence in men

An analysis of the blood pressure increases in patients with sustained hypertension and in the 19 patients who were discontinued from treatment because of hypertension (<1% of total venlafaxine-treated group) showed that most of the blood pressure increases were in the range of 10 to 15 mm Hg, SDBP. Since in individual patients sustained increases of this magnitude could have adverse consequences, it is recommended that patients receiving venlafaxine have their blood pressure monitored regularly.

For patients who experience a sustained increase in blood pressure during treatment with venlafaxine, either a dose reduction or discontinuation of venlafaxine should be considered.

  3. never heard of this. is it a prescription? if it is prescription did you read the enclosed literature?  do you live in a town that has a 24 hr pharmacy? call them. maybe they can help you.
