as the owner of a typical east-west semi detached property, I was wondering how the condensation finds its way out of gap between ground floor ceiling boards and first floor's floor boards(where the joists are...sorry I don't know the technical terms. As far as I can detect there are two vent bricks in the ground floor wall outside(under the living room) but when I look towards the facade in both faces, I can not see any vent bricks?!so far we have no problems with the condensation on the walls in both floors but I was thinking that laying laminate floor instaed of carpets can block condensation, so thanks in advance for your professional opinion!

  1. Prevention is better than cure - so keep your downstairs rooms free of condensation! Open a few windows when cooking or using any hot water that creates steam.

  2. There will not be any vent between the ceiling of the ground floor and the floor or the first floor the warmth of the down stairs should keep this free of condensation,so there is no problem in fitting laminate in the upstairs.

  3. The outside vent bricks are to circulate air under your floorboards that is why you cannot see them inside.
