Venter excited by new season
Saracens director of rugby Brendan Venter says he is excited by the prospect of some great attacking rugby this season.
Venter is well known in the game for having a very tough and attacking Saracens side that will do almost anything they can in order to win. Venter says the increased quality of the competition means there will be some very entertaining games this year.
On a personal level Venter has also promised that he will be much calmer this season and will curb his anger and frustration in the right way. He missed the final ten weeks of last season because of gestures that he made towards Leicester supporters.
Saracens are strong in many areas and this should ensure they do well over the course of a long campaign. Venter behaving himself will also have a number of benefits for the club.
A strong club
Saracens is a very strong rugby club in many different areas and this allows the club to compete each and every year. The coaches at the club like the team to play fast rugby and move the ball. This is something the side do very well and it's very difficult to defend against.
The team has the right blend of youth and experience in key areas. Steve Borthwick is the perfect central figure to have as captain and in the middle of the field as a player. He has played enough rugby to make sure that the younger players in the team are used in the right way.
There is more aggression and desire across the club than at many other clubs in the Premiership. Defeats do not go down well and there are many people at the club who are no strangers to having a word in media circles.
Venter said: "We will see a great product from all teams. All the sides are so talented. Look at how Bath play the game. Look at Sale with Charlie Hodgson or Harlequins with Nick Evans. It is going to be a wonderful spectacle. Globally, the referees are getting it right. They have found the key to making rugby a great game to watch."
Importance of Venter
It was clear at the back end of last season that Saracens missed having Venter at the side of the pitch. This is because he is very vocal and can get an important message across to his team in no time at all.
Venter has also admitted that he has thought about his career and role at the club more intensely. He will not want to risk the success of the club again this season through his personally actions.
Bath head coach Steve Meehan added: "I am sure the Premiership will start well. Rugby is in a position to deliver, not just because of the interpretations but because they have come in a year before the World Cup."
Betting advice
Saracens will do well this season because of the attacking brand of rugby that the club always plays. Venter will get the side playing very well and very quickly. This will ensure that they blow some other teams away and the team could win games by some big margins early on in the season.
Steve Borthwick has stated his intention to use Saracens as a way to make his game better in order to get back into the England team. Have a punt on him scoring one or two tries in the opening fixtures. You will get good odds on this because he is normally quite a defensive player in the team.
