Venues for 2011 Rugby World Cup (Part II)
(Discussion continued from part I regarding the total number of 48 matches that will be played between 20 teams at 13 different stadiums of 12 cities of New Zealand. Eden Park of Auckland will host the most number of matches including 2 semi finals and
1 the grand final.)
Waikato Stadium, Hamilton
With the capacity of 28,500, Waikato Stadium is the 6th biggest stadium in New Zealand. It is located in the city of Hamilton. The stadium has total 4 stands; largest stand The Brian Perry holds 12000 spectators. Other stands, The WEL Networks holding 8000,
The Goal Line Terrace holding 800 and The Green Zone can hold 5000 people. Its capacity can be increase temporarily by adding 5000 seats to The Goal line Terrace area.
Formerly known as Rugby Park; will host 3 important matches of 2011 world cup including 2 matches of Wales.
 
North Harbour Stadium, Auckland
North Harbour Stadium is the 2nd stadium in the city of Auckland which will host the world cup matches. Acukland is the only city which 2 stadiums are selected for world cup matches, other one is Eden Garden. North Harbour Stadium is located in the area
of Albany. This stadium was opened in 1997. This stadium is also used for many other sports. It is rectangular shaped stadium.
This stadium has total 25,000 capacity and is the 7th largest stadium in New Zealand. The stadium has four seating areas. The southern stand, which is the biggest stand, holds up to 12,000 people and also contains corporate facilities.
This stadium will host 3 matches including 2 matches of world rank number 3 South Africa.
 
Okara Park, Whangarei
Okara Park is located in the city of Whangarei, it was built and opened in 1965. The stadium was recently redeveloped with the cost of 16m NZ Dollars. A new huge stand known as Northland Events Centre is built.  After this new extension, its capacity is
increased and it can also use for many other sports.
This stadium has total capacity of 25,000. This stadium will be host for 2 world cup matches.
 
Yarrow Stadium, New Plymouth
Yarrow Stadium is situated in the city of New Plymouth. This stadium was built and opened in 2002 with the cost of 15m NZ dollars. Currently its capacity is 25,000 but a construction work is in process in order to enhance the capacity, which will raise the
capacity up to 30,000 before the world cup.
Previously, known as Rugby Park will host 3 league matches of coming world cup.
 
McLean Park, Napier
Mclean Park which is mainly famous as a cricket ground, hosts rugby matches as well. The stadium is located in the city of Napier. It is one of the old stadiums located in New Zealand. It was built in 1952. Stadium has total four stands for spectators and
all stands together hold up to 22,000 people. The stadium will host 2 league matches of world cup.
 
Trafalgar Park, Nelson
Trafalgar Park is situated within the heart of the city of Nelson in South Island. This Stadium recently had up gradation work, which enhanced its capacity up to 20,080, which were 18,000 before the renovation.
Trafalgar Park will hold two games in the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
 
Arena Manawatu, Palmerston North
Arena Manawatu is a multipurpose stadium situated in the city of Palmerston North. With the capacity of 18,000 Arena Manawatu is the 2nd smallest stadium, which uses for international rugby, in New Zealand but now there is a plan for the extension of the
stadium for the coming year world cup and that extension plan will start from start of next year and will end before world cup. The stadium will host 2 matches of world cup including the match of world rank number 8th Argentina.
 
Rugby Park Stadium, Invercargill      
Rugby Park stadium is the smallest rugby stadium which will use in upcoming world cup. It has capacity of 17,000 people only. It was built and opened in 2002. The stadium is located on the corner of Elles Road and Tweed Street in Invercargill.
 
Rugby Park Stadium will host 2 matches of world cup including the match of Scotland, which currently holds rank 7 in the International Rugby Board’s ranking.
New Zealand Rugby Union has worked a lot on all the stadiums and they are very hopeful that this will be the best rugby world cup ever held. They didn’t want to take any risk regarding stadiums that is why they have invested huge amounts of capital to provide
best quality facilities at the stadiums.
