Question:

Venus Flytrap Smells After Re-opening?

My brother recently got a Venus Flytrap and fed it ants and such. When the traps opened up after the digestion process, the plant was putting off a weird, odd scent. Is this normal? Oh yeah, the specific type of Venus Flytrap is "Dente."

  1. I haven't ever noticed a smell from any of my flytraps after digesting insects, but I grow mine outside and perhaps the open air prevents me from smelling it.  However, I haven't ever heard this from any other growers either.

  2. Theres a dead bug inside of it....being digested,,,its going to smell.
