Venus Williams/John Isner and Novak Djokovic/Ana Ivanovic confirm Hopman Cup entry – Tennis News
Former world number one, Venus Williams will be appearing in the Hopman Cup at Perth at the start of the new season in 2013. She will be teaming up with the current best male athlete from American, John Isner. Both these players
are immensely talented and capable of dismantling any kind of team put in front of them. The height of Isner is definitely a plus point for the American squad and they can easily capitalize on that to trounce their rivals at the hard courts of Australia. It
will be an entertaining experience for all tennis fanatics to witness the two of the best American professionals playing together for the first time in their professional careers.
Williams commented about the excitement of playing the Hopman Cup in following words, “I've never been to Perth -- I've never played the Hopman Cup, so for me it's going to be a wonderful experience. I've watched it literally every
year on TV so now I get to play, I'm very excited."
Isner was ecstatic to have a partner like Williams. He stated, “My previous two partners have been very, very small. But Venus is a little bit taller so I'm not going to look like such a giant out there. She's obviously one of
the greatest players ever so I think our team has a good shot to do well."
Other team that has confirmed their participation includes the likes of two former world number ones, Novak Djokovic and Ana Ivanovic. They will be representing Serbia in the contest. Ivanovic who is eager to make a sound comeback
to the Top-8 elite players of the world is practicing extremely hard these days to make sure that she doesn’t make silly mistakes that have cost her a lot in the recent past.
She was hammered to her first ever double bagel loss at the hands of the Italian veteran, Roberta Vinci, in the current season but the plus point is that she broke the 17 straight Grand Slam famine of reaching the last eight players
of the event and reached the quarter-finals at the US Open Championship earlier this month. So, there has been positivity in her play as well.
On the other hand, Djokovic is still pressing hard to dethrone the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, from the number one spot and reclaim that place where he belongs. So, both athletes are giving their best at the moment and that will
help them yield positive dividends when they commence their new season in 2013.
