Venus Williams and Victoria Azarenka describes Kim Clijsters as a role model – Tennis News
Former world number one, Venus Williams, revealed some insight on her recovery from the chronic disease that kept her out of tennis for quite a long period of time. She described the return of the Belgian superstar, Kim Clijsters,
as the fuel to her willpower for speedy recovery.
Clijsters didn’t take part in any professional tournament from 2007-2009 so that she could dedicate all the time to the new baby born. She has set an example for all women superstars who are afraid of marrying during the peak of
their career and can’t think of bearing a child at all. It is definitely a massive decision for someone who is rocking the world of tennis and Clijsters amongst the Top-10 players of the world when she decided to quit tennis.
A remarkable comeback in 2009 was a major confidence lifter for Williams who hasn’t recovered completely from the disease but has definitely enhanced her composure and strength to fight the competitors with a limited body movement.
Williams commented, “Kim has had resurgence like no other, coming back to win two majors. I think she’s inspiration for everyone who has said if you put your mind to it, if you have a dream, you can do whatever you want.”
Reigning world number one, Victoria Azarenka, also praised the 29-year-old Clijsters who has definitely laid a landmark for the women players and can definitely act as an ideal role model for them. Azarenka stated, “For the kids
she’s one of the people who you always like to be around. Obviously a lot of people love her. She’s definitely one everybody is going to miss.”
Clijsters is going to say goodbye to the world of tennis after the end of the US Open Championship. She is considering adding another cute baby to her family and confirmed the reporters that nothing will change her decision of
retirement. She wants to spend more time with her family and her bones are also not able to take the toll. A lot of people are going to miss the Belgian but the cycle of new comers and old leavers continues.
