Venus Williams dramatically delays her comeback, out of Australian Open 2012 – Tennis Special
Drama queen, Venus Williams, will not be seen in action in the first Grand Slam title of the year, the Australian Open 2012. The same issue that is hurting her since her retirement from the US Open 2011, Sjogren syndrome, is still
restraining her from being a part of the elite field at Melbourne Park. It seems like it is getting pretty bad or Williams is playing mind games with the tennis officials; only God knows the reality.
Her published status on the twitter account confirmed that she is out of the Australian Open this year. Is it a disease or she is afraid of handling the aging factor, decline in her game or the enormous amount of young upcoming
talent. The likes of Caroline Wozniacki, Ana Ivanovic, Petra Kvitova, Maria Sharapova and many others seemed to have stamped their dragon image in her mind and she has nightmares seeing herself standing against one of them at the courts.
Colombia’s exhibition match between two sisters was the rare good news for Williams’ fans all across the globe ever since her departure from the professional tennis due to an injury. She seemed absolutely fit and firing against
her sister and ousted her in straight sets with no difficulty at all. No problem seemed to have erupted at that stage; maybe it was not an official contest, neither it was against one of the cracking upcoming superstars. Nothing can be concluded for sure but
one thing is crystal clear that she is definitely planning something, making calculations about her comeback and searching the right platform.
Rumours about her gluten free diet are just not helping her cause. She hasn’t recovered from her disease even after shifting her diet plan as a perfect vegetarian. Gluten free diet is recommended for the people that are suffering
from Sjogren’s syndrome but it’s not a generic prescription because everyone’s case is different; depends on the body structure, digestive system and internal structure. Williams blindly followed the prescription; probably for a publicity stunt. She can’t
get in action but she can definitely stay in the limelight; such a genius.
Participating is several tournaments and then pulling out of them at the last second is the essence of Williams’ career. She has been a major problem for several tournament officials because they have been found rambling around
in search of the replacement at the last second. Same thing happened recently to the ASB Classic tournament officials. The announcement of her non-participation at the Australian Open 2012 is early according to her standards. She is fond of hitting the headlines
the night before her match.
Everyone hopes that her prolonged stay at the sidelines is over soon. February is the new comeback month for Williams but she must be planning a new apology to her fans to delay her comeback when the time comes. She is such an
amazing character; stayed in the limelight more than four awards winner Petra Kvitova, without playing a single match since August 2011. Such is the class of the seven times Grand Slam champion and former world number one.
No one will be amazed if she prolongs her comeback even further, as everyone is now used to it. Tournament officials will be reluctant to offer her any place because no one likes last second sweat. I hope she returns to the arena
soon with a mindset of playing a match. There is no point of being afraid of the new talented sizzling tennis ladies because ‘form is temporary but class is permanent’ and ‘old is gold’.
