Venus Williams entrance into the Kastles Stadium

Coming after a sad departure from the grass court Grand Slam Tournament in the quarterfinal stage few days ago, the elder sister of top ranked player, Venus Williams could have been advertising her upcoming book, contesting on the WTA Tour or just relaxing at home after another dense Grand Slam event.

Rather, Venus was in downtown Washington fighting the http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/07/AR2010070705339.html temperature on Wednesday afternoon to support the World Team Tennis sponsored kid’s tennis clinic prior to her this year’s debut for WTT's Washington Kastles versus the New York Buzz.

Venus Williams who is listed as number four in the world’s single players ranking reached the Kastles Stadium at around 4:30 p.m. with a host of little kids waiting for the American tennis ace.

The girl took active part in games as well as drills for about sixty minutes along with the kids prior to her practice session. Martina Hingis, who is also the part of the Buzz, also took part in it.

"I like playing with the children," said Williams, who had been advertising her upcoming book, called “Come to Win," in Washington earlier in the morning. "They were very supportive. I was so amazed. Some of the little fans could hardly grip the racket; the racket was actually longer than them. It's perhaps one of my favourite reasons of participating in the World Team Tennis”.

"I do like the tournament," Williams added. "It’s a great feeling being part of a team. It's actually quite a different experience from usual game of tennis".

Williams, promoting a red coloured T-shirt along with blue skirt from her dressing line eleven, got an electrifying applause from the run out spectators and stepped her way onto the court when introduced.

After noticing teammate Bobby Reynolds loss the Buzz's Alex Domijan in men's singles, 5-3, she entered the tennis court for women's doubles. Along with her partner Rennae Stubbs from Australia, the duo knocked down Sarah Borwell and Hingis, 5-3, under the illumination.

Leander Paes along with Reynolds then paired up to fall down Scoville Jenkins and Domijan, 5-2, before Hingis and Williams fought in the game's women's single set.

The ex contenders faced each other on the WTA tour for a period of twenty one  times back in 1990s as well as early 2000s, with Hingis triumphing in eleven of the encounters. Still, the Swiss tennis ace hadn't participated for three seasons before fitting up for the Buzz few days ago. A Williams’s success looked to be a fundamental lock.

Yet on this pleasant night, Venus was in for a fight. After she gained a 2-0 lead in the set, Hingis battled back to triumph in three games consecutively.

Williams then succeeded in a tough battled game to square things at three prior to the occasion when Hingis earned the 4-3 lead as a result of an enraged rally. Williams after that came back in order to tie the set at 4 and succeeded it in a tiebreaker, 5-4.

"She fought extremely well," Williams commented on Hingis. "She has got so much flair along with a good experience, as well. Obviously her style is persistent and to recover where as my game is so different from her."

Williams then teamed with Paes to battle against Hingis and Jenkins in mixed doubles, the match's final set. The Kastles couple win the set, 5-3, to grab the Kastles' 25-15

"What I like about the World Team Tennis t is that we get a chance of visiting different cities where there aren't any big championships from the women’s side, like Philadelphia, D.C., and we actually display the game of tennis for our lovers there," Serena expressed her views in a conference call on Wednesday. "It's so precious to have the chance to contest in front of my lovers all around the United States of America”.
Venus Williams will participate in three matches for the Kastles this year; her last two will be played in Philadelphia versus the Freedoms on Thursday and on Saturday versus the Aces in St. Louis.

However, the tennis fans will not see William sisters playing against each other in Kastles as per the rules of the competition.
