Venus Williams ready to grab an improved spot in 2013 – Tennis News
American veteran, Venus Williams, is one of the greatest tennis assets of his country and she is ready to take over all the over power challenges in the next WTA season despite of her increasing age. The professional participated
in fewer tournaments than before but displayed a remarkable game plan and has drastically improved her rankings, transcending from the world number 154 to 24.
The Australian National Women’s Coach, Nicole Pratt told the media, “History suggests based on her results at the Australian Open that Venus comes in underdone, and not as prepared compared to Wimbledon or the US Open … That said,
Venus knows what it takes to win Grand Slam titles and I think she's hungrier than ever. She realises that she only has perhaps one or two good years in her left to play at the highest level. She's always said that she loves Australia and loves being here,
but it's going to come down to preparation.”
The 32-year-old is one of the finest professionals with exceptional skills. She manages to secure the front line with her remarkable serves, along with precise power-hitting. Physically, the American veteran is very muscular than
the other contenders of her age and manifest an outstanding footwork and defence against her opponents. Her vibrant athleticism has helped her sustain a decent rank over the years. The combination of the Williams Sisters is indisputably a deadly match to encounter
and together they have secured three gold medals in doubles category in the Olympic Games.
The former world number one, Venus, was the quarter-finalist in the Sony Ericsson Open held at the hard courts of Miami. She rallied pas higher ranked professionals such as the Serbian diva, Ana Ivanovic, but eventually was laid
down to rest by the Pole, Agnieszka Radwanska. In the clay court season, she managed to contest until the quarter-finals of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia against the Russian beauty, Maria Sharapova.
The American senior exhibited an average performance in the Grand Slam tournaments but concluded her year by winning the BGL Luxembourg Open. She definitely has the potential to return with a greater force and bring more laurels
to her homeland.
The right-hander’s greatest barrier is her increasing age and has been one of the reasons of her down fall. The American senior has a slightly sluggish forehand as compared to her backhand and automatically results in unexpected
errors in her game. Her 2012 tennis campaign was considerably successful and she manages to come to the top with more determination and confidence to secure a decent rank at the end of her career.
