Venus Williams teams up with John Isner for the Hyundai Hopman Cup 2013 – Tennis News
Former world number one, Venus Williams, will team up with the 6ft 9in tall lad, John Isner, to participate in the Hyundai Hopman Cup, scheduled to be contested at the Perth Arena from December 29 to January 5. It will be an exciting
event considering the line up that looks terrific from the bird eye view. Some mind-startling performers from the world of tennis will team up with their compatriots to stage at the season opening tournament in Australia.
Williams stated in an interview, “I've never been to Perth – I've never played the Hopman Cup, so for me it's going to be a wonderful experience. I've watched it literally every year on TV so now I get to play, I'm very excited.”
Isner commented about the participation in the tournament, “For me it's the perfect way to start the year. It has the pressure of matches but then it's not exactly an ATP tournament. My previous two partners have been very small.
But Venus is a little bit taller so I'm not going to look like such a giant out there. She's obviously one of the greatest players ever so I think our team has a good shot to do well.”
The overall line-up for the contest is as follows:

It is going to be a mouth-watering event especially with the inclusion of the 2011 edition finalist, Novak Djokovic and Ana Ivanovic, who is considered to be the best mix-doubles team considering their mammoth experience and talented
play. Both players are 25 years old and achieved the height of world ranks. Ivanovic was ranked the best player in the world after her conquest of the French Open in 2008 whilst Djokovic has ended the two successive years as the number one player in the world
including the current season.
Williams and Isner will be a team to beat as well who will be utilizing all their experience just like the Serb squad. The 32-year-old Williams had a very successful doubles season in 2012 as well; won the Gold Medal at London
Olympics along with her majestic sister, Serena Williams, who ended the season with seven titles.
