  1. Nah dont think so. I hope someone else wins the title this year and not a williams sister. !!! C`mon on the chinese girl or Dementieva!

  2. no comspiracy... they are on the opposite side at this years wimbledon.. and in the past they have been on the same side of the draw.....

  3. It all depends on their ranking. With Serena being the 6th seed and Venus the 7th seed, it was obvious that they were going to be on the opposite sides of the draw.

And for the record in the recent past Grandslam that both Williams sisters entered in, only this years Australian Open and last years Wimbledon were Venus and Serena seeded on opposite half of the draw. Among the Grandslams they both entered in the past, only the 2008 French Open, 2007 US Open, 2005 US Open and 2005 Wimbledon were they seeded in the same half.

  4. No it is just how it happens this year based on their ranking.  They also tends to play better when they are in opposite draws.  They are Serena 6 and Venus 7 in the rankings so they will fall on opposite sides.

  5. As the RootZoo guy said it all depends on their seeding for the tournament. This time around they are on opposite sides of the draw as Venus was seeded #7 and Serena #6. It usually is just pure coincidence that they are in the same half of a draw or are on opposite ends of the draw in Grand Slam events.

  6. No conspiracy. They have been in the same half of the draw in tournaments many times in the past including the 2005 Wimbledon, 2005 US Open, 2006 Australian Open, 2007 French Open, 2007 US Open & 2008 French Open.

Their placement in the draw is determined by their respective rankings and random draw. The only two seeds that are gauranteed to end up in the opposite side of the draw are the 1st and 2nd seeds. Everyone else gets the luck of the draw.

  7. They are in opposite halves of the draw this year at Wimbledon, and can only play each other if they both reach the final, which looks as though that will probably happen.  If so, this will be the first all-Williams grand slam final since 2003.  It's about 50-50 when it comes to the Williams sisters being placed in opposite halves of the draw throughout their career in the slams.  So no, there is no conspiracy, the draw is random, with only the #1 and #2 seeds put arbitrarily in opposite halves of the draw.  This year the Williams sisters are the # 6 (Serena) and #7 (Venus) seeds at Wimbledon, which is also what they're currently ranked.  They were also in opposite halves of the draw at the Australian Open earlier this year, but both lost in the quarterfinals.

  8. It depends on their rankings.  They have been on the same side many times, but not this time.  They definitely are on opposite sides very often.  They seem to be the best two in the tourney and it's appropriate for them to meet in the finals.
