Venus flytrap repot?

I got a venus flytrap bulb about a month ago its planted in a 3 inch pot do I need to repot it?

  1. It's not necessary unless the plant is so big that it tips the existing pot over.    

    Venus flytraps don't really need to be put in a big pot full of fertile soil, in fact they do just fine in sand or vermiculite or really poor soil (they primarily get their nitrogen from the flies and insects they catch or are fed).

  3. The way I do it, not being funny and all is I normally pull the little plant out of the little pot and see if it is root bound then I would snip some of the extra roots from the bottom and plant it in a pot 3 times larger than the last one.  

  4. Unless you know for sure how the plant was treated before you got it, it might be a good idea to repot it.  The reason for this is that if the plant had been watered with anything less than pure water, then the minerals in the water can build up and make the plant ill.

    You can repot your Venus Fly Trap in simple pure peat moss.  Most growers use a 50:50 mix of peat moss and perlite, but I have really good luck with pure peat moss.
