Venus sidelines herself from tennis because of her injured knee
The current tennis season has not been so lucky for the Williams sisters as both of them are suffering from injuries. The current world number one Serena has not been able to play because of her left foot injury and now it is Venus’s turn as very recently
she has suffered an injury as well.
Very recently the current world number three American Venus Williams has announced that she will not participate in any of this year’s tennis event, as she is not feeling well because of a continual left knee injury.
Currently the 30-year-old is out of the tennis circuit after being defeated by the Current world number five Kim Clijsters of Belgium on the 10th of September in US Open Grand Slam tournament, which was held in New York.
Venus Williams told the world about her current situation in a very disappointing way. She said that she will not be able to play in any of the tennis events in 2010. She added that it is very unfortunate for her, as she is compelled to stay out of the tennis
court because of her injury. While talking about the severity of her knee injury the American veteran told the media and said that her injury is not very fatal and she will have to take some rest to recover from it.
It is also reported that by staying out of the tennis circuit this year the 30-year-old will miss the WTA (Women's Tennis Association) tour championship and Fed Cup finals. The absence of Venus from these major tournaments might drag her international ranking
down from the third spot as well.
It is to be notified that the American tennis ace twisted her left knee cap in August when she planned to participate in a clay court tennis championship in Cincinnati. Since August, Venus is using supports to keep the weight off of her injured knee and
is undergoing physical therapy as well.
The five-time Wimbledon champion was planning to play with her sister, Serena Williams in the tennis Federation Cup final against Italy, which will be held in November but the injuries have gotten into her way, which is very disappointing and frustrating
for her.
In a very recent interview the captain for the US Federation Cup, Mary Joe Fernandez expressed her concerns and views about Venus Williams and told the media that the injury of the American veteran is not at all a good sign as she was one of the top contenders
for the tournament’s title. She told the media that she has talked to the agent of Venus Williams, and has come to know that she will not be able to perform this year. She expressed her concerns about the 30-year-old and said that it is very unfortunate for
the current world number three as she is enduring the injury once again.
There is no doubt that the current injuries of the Williams sisters will drag their international tennis ranking down. However, no one can deny the class and capacity of Williams of in the world of tennis. In a recent interview Venus Williams announced her
ambitions and told the media world that she will try her level best to start the next year with complete physical and mental fitness. She said that she is confident regaining her match fitness, and will try her level best to compete in the US Federation Cup
and WTA championships in 2011.
The injury of Venus Williams has brushed her away from the world of tennis for almost four months. Now it is up to her to recover from her left knee injury and clutch the match winning form. Fans of Williams sisters are eagerly waiting for the supreme reign
of the remarkable duo.
