  1. You are right. Venus Williams does have a good chance of winning. But I think Ivanovic, Sharapova and Serena have a bigger chance of winning it.

  2. Well its the same thing they did the last two times she won. But this year I did remember reading a couple articles about the trend that has emerge about Venus bowing out early at the French and then going on to win Wimbledon. I believe this year people think she has a shot but with the likes of Sharapova and the Serbs around, everyone's attention unfortunately is solely focused elsewhere, rather than on Venus, which can be a good thing if history was to repeat itself again.

From my estimation Venus will most likely play Sania Mirza in the third round. That might be a test for her but Mirza hasn't played a lot this season so you would expect Venus to win that. In the fourth round she is expected to play Daniela Hantuchova who has just come back from a three month layoff and playing her first tournament. Venus has never lost to Hantuchova in 9 meetings, so she would be the favorite in that match. However there is a chance that Venus could play Flavia Pennetta, if Hantuchova was to lose before the fourth round. That would be Venus' first real test seeing that Pennetta has beaten Venus the last two times they met, most recently at this years French Open.

If she gets to the Quarterfinals, she is expected to meet Jelena Jankovic, and this is where Venus stands the most likely chance of bowing out. Even though grass is not Jankovic's preferred surface, she did knocked Venus out of Wimbledon two years ago in the third round. If Jankovic was to lose before the quarterfinals, the only other play that should trouble Venus at that stage is 13th seeded Russian Vera Zvonareva. However Venus would be the favorite going into that match having hold a 5-1 lifetime lead on Zvonareva, with two of those wins coming this year.

I hope she can get to the semifinals and if she does, then more than likely she will be facing Maria Sharapova. Sharapova has been gifted an easy pathway to the semifinals with the only player in her path that could give her trouble is perhaps a fourth round encounter with Victoria Azarenka and possibly a Safina/Dementieva quarterfinal.

Okay sorry about the useless info. I just had nothing to do. LOL

  3. that is a really good question...i'd have to say probably because the media has really been talking a lot about maria sharapova but especailly ana ivanovic. venus williams DOES have a great chance of winning...but it's kind of the same old news, so predicting ana ivanovic (who by the way does have a good chance) who is a new and upcoming star might be a reason.

  4. It's to her advantage that she's been under the radar.  I just have a feeling that Serena will win.

  5. Venus will win because she is a fighter and a great grass court player. Remember, she has won Wimbledon even when ranked in the 20s. Never count her out.
