Vera Dushevina/Lucie Hradecka tear down Date-Krumm/Zhang in 2nd Round – Rogers Cup 2011  
The Vera Dushevina and Lucie Hradecka teamed up to win the second round of the Rogers Cup against team Kimiko Date-Krumm and Shuai Zhang in straight sets of 7-5, 7-6(4) at the Rexall Centre in York University, Toronto, Canada.
Opening the set were Dushevina/Hradecka, who won the pitch and smashed two aces, however, in the next few moments they also struck 2 double faults and lost a couple of points, while Krumm/Zhang had struck one fewer double fault.
Dushevina/Hradecka have played numerous matches side by side against other top players and surprisingly have had won three matches prior to this event. With a good coordination and a powerful serve that won them 66% of their total
service points, along with, attaining 14 out of 31 points in their return points, making it an average 45% win in total return points.
On the contrary, the Japanese and Chinese duo managed to secure an above average 55% in their service points but in their return they were only able to attain 11 out of 32 points, hence achieving a pitiable 34%. They lost most
of their points because of their first return which lost them 89% of their points and were only able to bag 2 out of 19 points that amounted to only 11%.  
Unable to save 2 break points on their serve, Krumm/Zhang only capitalized on 1 of 4 break points, making it a deplorable 25%.  Mean while, the Russian along with her Czech counterpart gained the edge by breaking their opponents
twice and were capable to save 3 out of the 4 break points on their serve.
Hence, they won the set with 7 more points than their opposition, making it an above average 56% win in the total set points.
Setting the tone, Dushevina/Hradecka were not to give up now and although, they were leading by a few games Krumm/Zhang chased them down to even the score at 6-6  and forced a tie break.
Amidst the second set, Krumm/Zhang got off to a great start by hitting 76% of their first serves on target and also saved 83% of t heir break points but after the two double faults that they committed, they were treading on dangerous
lines of losing the set.
Krumm/Zhang only attained 5 out of 24 points in their first return and hence, because of a poor return they were unable to score an average score, instead only mustered 34% of total return points against Dushevina/Hradecka, who
won an average 41% in their total set points.
Both the teams were able to break each other once but the Russian and the Czech together in a harmonious synchrony easily took the lead in the tie breaker and served the set at 7-4.
With a 54% win in the total set points Dushevina and Hradecka secured a win for themselves and secured a place in the third round of the Rogers Cup.
